What is a Go Boston Card?

A Go Boston Card is a multi-attraction pass that gets you into 41 Boston attractions plus one premium attraction on 3, 5 and 7-Day cards for one low price.

How does a Go Boston Card Work?
  • Just purchase passes for the number of days you want to sightsee — we offer 1, 2, 3, 5, or 7-Day cards.
  • Your Go Boston Card grants you admission to any of the included attractions for the number of days you bought the card for.
  • Simply present your pass at included attractions for admission. Pay nothing at the gate.
  • Visiting your first attraction activates your card. Then, use it on consecutive calendar days. ?
How will I get my pass?

Instantly! Choose between 2 options:

  • Use your pass right on your phone with the free Go City Card app.
  • Print your pass and guidebook at home.

Links and easy-to-follow instructions for both options will be in your confirmation email.

What is the Premium Attractions offer?

If you purchase a 3, 5 or 7-Day card, you get admission to one Premium Attractions on one of the days your card is valid.

What else does the pass include?

You'll get a guide with detailed attraction descriptions, hours of operation, and a map to help plan your itinerary. Plus extra dining, shopping and entertainment discounts to help you save even more along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions Show All

What do you mean by "consecutive calendar days"?

"Consecutive calendar days" are days in a row, on a calendar. A calendar day is not a 24-hour period.

For example, if you have a 3-Day Go Boston Card and visit your first attraction on a Monday evening, it is valid for the remainder of Monday (1st calendar day) and the two days immediately following it: Tuesday (2nd calendar day), and Wednesday (3rd calendar day).

Tip: to get the most out of your pass, plan to visit attractions early in the day.

Is this just a discount card? Will I still need to buy tickets?

No. Passes include admission to each attraction; no need to pay anything at the gate. Some attractions may offer upgrades or special exhibits for an additional fee.

Do I need to choose my attractions in advance?

Nope, you can choose from the included attractions as you go.

What is the age cut off for child cards?

Child cards are for children ages 3-12. Most attractions do not charge for children under 3 years old. However, there are some exceptions (especially children's museums and attractions geared toward very young travelers). If you have a child under 3 years old, please check with the attraction directly in advance. You may be charged at the gate.

How will I get my pass?

Instantly! Choose between 2 options:

  • Use your pass right on your phone with the free Go City Card app.
  • Print your pass and guidebook at home.

Links and easy-to-follow instructions for both options will be in your confirmation email.

How do I "activate" my card?

Simply visit your first attraction!

Is my card valid all day?

Yes. You can enter attractions any time with the Go Boston Card.

What is your refund policy?

You'll have a full year from the day you purchase your passes to receive a full refund, as long as they are unused. However, the passes are non-refundable once they're activated.

How many days should I buy?

Most travelers visit between 2 and 3 attractions each day depending on individual preference. Our most popular card is the 3-Day card.

What is the Premium Attractions offer?

If you purchase a 3, 5 or 7-Day card, you get admission to one Premium Attractions on one of the days your card is valid.

Can I purchase passes on the spur of the moment when I arrive in Boston?

Of course! With instant digital delivery, you can purchase and access passes right on your mobile device. Or, visit one of our local purchase locations.

Does a Go Boston Card expire?

Yes. You have one year from the date of purchase to begin using your pass. After one year, it will expire.

How much will I save?

Compare the price of the pass to the gate prices of the attractions you want to visit to see how much you can save. Or, check out some real savings examples from Go City Card customers to see how much they actually saved!

We give you the flexibility to create your own itinerary and choose the attractions you want to visit depending on your interests.

For inspiration, check out some of our sample itineraries, insider tips, and more for info on all the fun things to do in Boston so you can make the most of your time here.

How many attractions can I visit in one day?

On a Go Boston Card, you can visit as many attractions as you want in a day.

Can I visit an attraction more than once?

In most cases, you can visit each attraction once per day. Some attractions are valid only once during the life of the pass. Please reference your guidebook for specific information on each attraction.

Do I need to make reservations to visit the attractions?

Attractions that require a reservation will display this symbol on the guidebook page.

Some attractions require a credit card to hold a reservation. In these cases, your credit card will not be charged unless you do not show up for your reservation.

What’s the catch?

There’s no catch. Go Boston Card has a partnership with all of the participating attractions to make your visit to Boston as memorable as possible and to help you save time and money.

Can I share my pass with a friend or sell it?

No. The Go Boston Card is non-transferrable and may not be re-sold.

What happens if an attraction is closed or a tour is cancelled due to weather or other problem?

While we do our best to ensure that all attractions are available, events happen that are out of our control. The great thing about a Go Boston Card is that there are so many attractions to choose from. If an attraction is closed, or cannot be visited for some reason, we know you'll find a fun alternative in your guidebook!

I still have questions!

Please feel free to call us at 800‑887‑9103 and we’ll be happy to help you!

Note: A Go Boston Card is non-transferable. This means that once you start using it, you are the only person who can use it to get into attractions. Go Boston Cards may not be re-sold.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

My family purchased the 2-day card, with one day in Boston, and one day southward. In Boston, we got the City Trolley, the Swan Boats, the Bike Rental, the Children's Museum and Legoland (a full day!). If it were up to me, we could've stopped in a few of the Freedom Trail buildings and the Skyview, but they couldn't keep up. On day 2, we went to the Plimoth Plantation/Mayflower package, and closed the day with a lovely ride on the Hyannisport ferry. All in all, a very productive vacation, with savings up to over 250%.

Worth It

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

This was my second trip to Boston, and first time using the Go Boston Card. The card made things very fast as you had access to speed lines dedicated to cardholders (which we used the digital download on our phones so each place was able to scan barcodes for us and we were in) and very affordable thanks to the option to buy for multiple days depending on your time spent in the city. As compared to my previous visit for which a different discount program was used, my second visit to Boston was packed with 2-3 times more places. My only drawback was that the primary attractions for the Go Boston Card were not open or available during the week in March that my family visited, but even without those primary locations not open/accessible, the number of the secondary locations that we visited more than made up for the total cost of the card per person. As far as we could tell, we visited every open attraction within the city and found only 1 location that did not support the Go Boston Card, (Boston Tea Party Boat and Museum) which had a discount going that day anyways. In my opinion, stay in Boston where ever you want, but start your day at the Freedom Trail, and head in the direction of the biggest attraction you want to see for the day. We did a star pattern of sorts and managed to see everything in walking distance, or off the subway line, visiting Harvard (which has several museums), Cambridge, MIT, the Ballpark, the tower observatory deck, the Boston Marathon finish line, Public Library, several gardens and city parks, the Freedom Trail (which has 2-3 dozen stops of patriotic history), the aquarium, Science Museum (which could be week long and still not see everything in there), the military district (with boats and a museum), Chinatown, Little Italy, Downtown, the harbor, Tea Party Boat, a half dozen markets/shops/mall venues, saw a movie, eat/drink at different places each night, all in 4 nights stay (3 day Go Boston Pass, and a 1 week pass for bus/subway)

This pass is such a money saver!

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

Great money saver. I was hesitant about buying this pass. I felt it was too good to be true, but after reading some of the reviews. I took a chance and it was a good chance. Although, I didn't go to all the places on my three day pass, I did manage to check into the major ones. It was easy to redeem. Just show your pass to the cashier and you're in. Some say you get to "jump to the head of the line", but there no need since there isn't any time sensitive scheduling.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

What a great two days in Boston we enjoyed this summer. The Go Boston Card helped us save a little money, and we definitely benefited by being able to ride the trolleys around town. I ran the numbers, and it made sense. Boston gets hot, so getting a trolley ride across town at points really helped revive us.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

We used this for our family of 5 (2 adults and kids 14,11and 9) staying in Boston 4 days and it was great! We purchased the 3 day card but did not activate it the first day. We looked at the list and grouped our activities by location. We stayed at the Omni Parker and many things were walkable, we did use the T for a few things. The Science Museum is big and prob. requires at least 3 hours or more, get your hand stamped for re-entry. We arrived at the SM at 10am and made our Duck Tour reservation before we entered. The kiosk is right outside the Museum entrance. We booked the 1pm DT and headed in, we did about half of the museum before lunch. After lunch we started our DT, seats are pre assigned but they rec. that you arrive about 15 minutes before your tour. The DT tour was fun and informational, it was also a really hot day so time out on the water was nice. We returned to the Museum to finish the rest of the exhibits. On our walk home we stopped by Quincy Market/ Fanuiel Hall. The Old South Meeting House is near here so we stopped by there too. You need less than an hour to get through this site. On our second go card day we activated our Trolley pass, visited the Aquarium and did the Constitution Cruise. The Trolley pass needs to be activated at the kiosk in front of the Long Warf Hotel. We were there right at 10 and there wasn't a line so we activated it & hit Aquarium nearby. We only needed about 2 hours here,it's on the smaller side. We did the Constitution Cruise(45 min) & only arrived about 20 min before departure. After we hopped on the trolley and visited a few sites on the Freedom Trail. Later we did Swan boats and then onto the Skywalk Observatory.3rd Day we took an early T train to Sam Adams Brewery Tour. After we did the Guided Freedom Tour to the North End, the Tour ended near the Old South Church, we also visited the Revere House nearby. Also rec Mike's Pastry. We did more Trolley/ Trail stops. We would have paid over 170.00 for these sites.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

This is a great value. There were lots of options to choose for the sites to see and the days. My only negative comment is why the card had to be used on consecutive days. It doesn't seem like that should matter.

Just got back from our vacation, it was awesome. Anyone going needs this card we did the 3 day pass and never needed reservations for anything. We did duck boats, fenway tour, Lego land, observatory skyway, aquarium and six flags, all for one price!!! We could have fit in more but also did a red sox game and patriots training camp with 3 kids so cut into our time abit, but we saved SO much with these passes.
