Get a spiny hug from a sea urchin, feel a knobby sea star or sticky sea anemone, and experience the sea water spray of a swell shark when you visit the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.
The aquarium, operated by the environmental organization Heal the Bay, is home to some 100 species of organisms, including moray eels, octopus, sharks, rays, and a variety of fish and invertebrates–all examples of the animals found just a short stroll away in the Santa Monica Bay.
Our popular shark-themed Sundays include a feeding and presentation at the open top shark exhibit. Learn fun facts about these misunderstood animals and create shark related arts and crafts.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and volunteers enrich the hands-on experience at this interactive aquarium, where the wonder of discovery of the marine environment inspires conservation and stewardship.
