Get a spiny hug from a sea urchin, feel a knobby sea star or sticky sea anemone, and experience the sea water spray of a swell shark when you visit the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium
. The aquarium, operated by the environmental organization Heal the Bay, is home to some 100 species of organisms, including moray eels, octopus, sharks, rays, and a variety of fish and invertebrates–all examples of the animals found just a short stroll away in the Santa Monica Bay. The popular shark-themed Sundays include shark related arts and crafts, story time, films and a presentation and feeding at the shark exhibit.
