This interactive theme park for the mind features an earthquake simulator, you can attempt to land the Space Shuttle or play one of the many virtual sports. Recently, Soundwaves: The Art of Sampling has been leaving visitors in awe. Focusing on the development of sound through contemporary art, the exhibit features everything from references in Piet Mondrian's paintings to the sound experiments of John Cage in the 1950s and 60s, as well as the work of contemporary DJs in the nightlife world. The museum's website reads, "Exploring the relationship between sound and vision, the artists in Soundwaves cross genre and media in the exploration of sight, sound, and the translation of the audible into the visual." … [Read more...]
Anthony Bourdain in Hawaii
Anthony Bourdain Photo uploaded by Zesmerelda Anthony Bourdrain, the bad boy of the culinary world, has just filmed an episode of "No Reservations," his hit show from the Travel Channel, in Hawaii! According to the Hawaii Blog, the episode will air on March 3, much to the delight and perhaps dismay of Hawaiian residents. Bourdain is known for seeking out the most unique local cuisine he can find, from the fanciest of bistros to the cheapest of street vendors. He's eaten everything from foie gras at The French Laundry to a still-beating cobra heart in Vietnam. He's respected for his honesty and his own culinary talent, but is also known for his scathing reviews. Let's just hope that he finds something to love about the cuisine of the Hawaiian islands...and, let's be honest, how could he not? Red Sox Visit the White House
Red Sox Fan Looks On Photo uploaded by Oscalito Our beloved Red Sox will fly to Washington D.C. today to meet with the President as an honor that comes with winning the World Series title. Their last visit, pictured in photos here, was in 2005 for their previous victory. Along with schmoozing with the president, the players will also make a stop at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center to pay a visit to the patients. Manager Terry Francona said (about their 2005 visit), "It was humbling. It was an honor to be there. I didn't hear one [player] say, 'Hey, let's [leave].' Everybody wanted to stay and talk.
