If you are headed to Boston for a vacation or a visit, there is a good chance you will find yourself on one of the city’s ubiquitous “Ducks.” These WWII vintage amphibious vehicles have been re-purposed for city tours and carry passengers through the streets of Boston before plunging into the Charles River for a waterside view of the city. As fun as this unconventional approach to a city tour can be, the vehicle is only half the story. Smart Destinations has partnering up with Southwest Airlines Vacations for the month of March to offer special deals on two-Day Go City Cards for Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Orlando, Miami, San Francisco, and Seattle. "City Passes" -- sometimes known as "Sightseeing Passes" or "Attraction Passes" -- are becoming more and more part of the travel landscape. While long a part of the European travel scene, they are a more recent arrival in the U.S. In many ways they are overdue. Nobody walks into a hotel to request a room or walks up to the airline ticket counter and expects to get the best price, and yet that is still largely the case when it comes to people purchasing things to do while on a trip. Smart Destinations Looks to Give Back
Smart Destinations, the company behind the Maui Explorer Pass as well as sightseeing passes in 14 other cities and destinations across North America, has put together a team to raise money for the the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Every 4 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer and such cancers accounted for almost 10% of all the lives claimed by cancer in 2009. Research has achieved a great deal to date, but there is still a long way to go. To help fund researchto combat these cancers, eight Smart Destinations employees are racing in a triathlon this June.
