Now that summer is over, it’s back to school for children all across the U.S. Although not all kids are huge fans of back-to-school season, most students are at least pleased with some of the activities that come along with the return to the classroom, with field trips often topping the list. Students in Southern California really luck out because there are litanies of Los Angeles Attractions that are great places to visit on school trips.

There is probably no better time to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific than this fall. Two Magellanic penguin chicks have been on display with the rest of the Aquarium of the Pacific’s penguins since the middle of September and there are also two young harbor seal pups in the Seals & Sea Lions Habitat. Aquarium visitors have the chance to interact with the animals during daily meet-and-greet shows at the Molina Animal Care Center and someone in the audience at each show will be selected to help feed the penguins. Students who visit the Aquarium of the Pacific also can enjoy of the daily films and shows that are played in the Great Hall, Ocean Theater, and Ocean Science Center.

Now receiving more than 450,000 annual guests, the Discovery Science Center has been open since December 1998 and is rapidly approaching its 15th anniversary. Home to 120 interactive Discovery Science Center Field Tripsexhibits that encourage visitors to search for answers, think and explore, the DSC will be welcoming an exhibit called “The Science of Ripley’s Believe It or Not!” beginning on October 5, 2013 that will run until January 5, 2014.
