As the snow melts and the windy city says goodbye to those sub-zero temperatures, we can finally remember what it’s like to embrace the outdoors in Chicago! If you’re ready to be liberated by the sweet scents of spring, it’s time to explore the Chicago Flower and Garden Show at the Navy Pier. The annual event is a delightful display of all things horticulture with its ‘Art of Gardening’ theme. The 25-plus gardens on display are true works of art – ranging from an Asian-inspired ‘pagoda pergola’ to high-style Tablescapes assembled by Chicago’s top florists and designers. This year’s show will be in from March 9th until March 17th, so be sure to pay a visit to these glorified gardens during your stay!
With more than 100 vendors of gardening, landscape, and horticulture, you’ll discover dozens of natural, eco-friendly products. And after attending several educational seminars, you’ll be sure to get inspired to liven up that patch of grass at home. Speakers range from business experts, gardening gurus, organic enthusiasts, and exceptional artists. Sit in on ‘Organic Vegetables from Your Own Backyard’ and learn the basic principles of organic gardening. Stop by for ‘Creativity in the Garden’ to channel your imaginative spark into a unique outdoor space that incorporates salvaged items. Don’t forget to enter into the world of culinary prowess at the esteemed ‘Garden Gourmet’ demonstrations by top Chicago-area chefs. They’ll show you the delicious results to come should you refine your green thumb!
There’s even more to be found at the Chicago Flower and Garden Show. You’ll find a playground and fun-filled green activities in the Kid’s Activity Garden, and ‘The Art of Floral’ exhibit of interpretive works of art by the North Central Chapter of AIFD.
As far back at 1847, the Chicago Flower & Garden Show has wowed and inspired visitors with floral designs and gardens so beautiful, any museum curator would consider them works of art.
