Independence Day is celebrated in the fiftieth U.S. state, Hawaii, the same way it is on the mainland and there are certainly a number of Oahu July 4th 2014 Attractions that will be open for business in about a week’s time. The Go Oahu Card Attractions Pass will get you into some of the fun, but there are a number of alternate things that you may want to consider doing if you will be in Oahu on July 4th.
For a family-friendly Independence Day celebration, head to the Turtle Bay Resort for a day of prize giveaways, live music and fireworks. There will be a number of different food booths at the event and groups like Cultural Nation, Crimson Apple and Kapena are all scheduled to perform before the fireworks at 8:30 p.m. Best of all, the event is free and open to the public.
Another event that is connected to the resort is the Da Hui Paddle Race. The 36th edition of the race is one of the top paddleboard events around. Participants can choose to take part in an either seven-mile or four-mile version of the race and more than 500 people are expected to take part in this year’s event. Kona Brewing company is sponsoring the event, so there are ways to enjoy yourself at the race without getting in the water.
The all-inclusive Go Oahu Card Attractions Pass will save you up to 55% on admission to 35 of the best attractions in Oahu. Starting at just $175.99, the pass will have you covered for 3, 4 or 5 days or 7 days, or a one or two-week period if you choose to stay longer.
Another option on the Fourth is the Epilepsy Foundation Freedom run. Sponsored by the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii and USA Track & Field, the EFFR will begin at KailuaHigh School at 7 a.m. The fun run will feature timed five and 10 kilometer runs and a one-mile walk (that welcomes wheelchairs, strollers and pets on leashes), and all the proceeds from the event will benefit programs and services that are linked to the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii.
Also check out the Oahu Family Fun Pass to see some activities that will appeal to people of all ages.
The Kailua 4th of July Independence Day Parade will take place during the day on the Fourth and 200 marchers, 40 vehicles, 40 floats and at least four bands are scheduled to show up. Afterwards, the 13th annual Twilight Airshow will be held over KailuaBay. Sponsored by Kailua Fireworks, the patriotic event will showcase the flying skills of pilots Hank Bruckner and Clint Churchill. During the 30-minute show, each pilot will perform exciting aviation maneuvers like the avalanche, the rolling turn and the tailswapper. A fireworks display will begin as soon as the sky is sufficiently dark.
