Run to the Sun in Maui

Though tomorrow’s Run to the Sun event is closed to runners, there’s still time to check it out at a spectator. This grueling 36-mile marathon takes long-distance runners up the switchback of Haleakala Crater to its 10,000-foot summit. Running 36 miles isn’t exactly my idea of a vacation, so I think I’ll sit this one out, but I’m sure the views will be stunning (see photo above).

The pictures are very cool of Haleakala. I been wanting to do this run for awhile. It will be my first ultra. I checked out the website but registration has not open yet. Does anybody know what the entry fee is and how fast does it get full?

Now this is definitely a way I’d want to relax on Maui. Get up around 2:30 am to get ready for a 36-mile ultramarathon race which starts at 4:30 am and ascends Haleakala, the dormant volcano that dominates East Maui.
