The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl will kickoff on Thursday, Dec. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium when the No. 23 Northern Illinois University Huskies will look to knock off the Utah State Aggies. NIU last played in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl in 2006 when they lost to TCU and this is the second time that the Huskies and Aggies will play after their previous meeting in 1995 in a game that UtahState won 42-7. This is the ninth year that the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl will be played and the first time that the Aggies will appear in the game.

“We are so excited to be matching two conference division champs in this year’s game,” said 2013 Bowl President Bill Geppert. “While the paths each school took to get to San Diego may have differed a bit, these two teams had tremendous season and will surely put on quite a show at Qualcomm Stadium.”

The game will pit the top-25 defense of UtahState, which ranks seventh in scoring defense and 11th in total defense and rushing defense, against the fifth-ranked offense of Northern Illinois which is led by Heisman Trophy candidate Jordan Lynch. The dual-threat QB ran for 1,881 yards, passed for 2,676 and totaled 45 overall touchdowns in 2013 and set a number of school and NCAA records in the process.
