2014 is here and that means it’s time to start looking forward to February and the first major holiday of the year – it’s not Valentine’s Day.
The Super Bowl will take place on Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium just outside of New York City and even if you don’t have tickets, that doesn’t mean you can’t get in on some of the action. In recognition of the big game, the NFL is partnering up with GMC to turn Times Square in Midtown Manhattan into the ultimate pigskin passageway – Super Bowl Boulevard!
Starting on Wednesday, Jan. 29, the area of Broadway between 34th & 47th Streets will be completely transformed into a gridiron paradise and it will stay that way until Saturday, Feb 1, the day before Super Sunday. The 13 blocks that make up Super Bowl Boulevard will operate from 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. and give football fans ample opportunity to celebrate the real national pastime in the days leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII.
If you plan on being in the city for the game, check out the New York Explorer Pass Extra Savings suggestions page for some additional ideas about things to do besides taking a stroll on Super Bowl Boulevard.
The Super Bowl Boulevard is open to anyone – even people who don’t plan on attending the “coolest” Super Bowl in history – but you will have to register (for free) at this page. Everyone who registers is entered to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII, so signing up is really a no-brainer.
Once you register, you can get your badge from one of the NFL Brand Ambassadors that will be stationed on every corner of every block from 34th to 47th streets on Broadway. If you don’t have time to pre-register, you can do it on the spot as well. Note: A parent or legal guardian must register for minors under the age of 18 and may do so either online or on-site.
