San Diego Zoo Announces Name of Giant Panda Cub!

If you’ve been following our updates on the newest giant panda cub at San Diego Zoo, this piece of news is for you! After much anticipation, the San Diego Zoo announced the name of their 15-week-old Giant Panda Cub this past Tuesday. During a public naming ceremony, the San Diego Zoo’s sixth panda cub was named Xiao Liwu—meaning “Little Gift.” We think this is a perfect name for such an adorable little miracle! (Xiao Liwu’s mother, Bai Yun, was nearly 21 years old when she delivered her newest cub, making her the oldest known giant panda to give birth). In accordance with Chinese tradition, the San Diego Zoo waits 100 days after a giant panda cub is born before officially naming it. Xiao Liwu was 107 days old when his name was bestowed upon him. SeaWorld San Diego Now Part of Go San Diego Card

SeaWorld San Diego is now part of the Go San Diego Card program, joining more than 400 sights, parks, museums, attractions, and tours that accept Go City Cards and Go Select Passes as an entry ticket. These sightseeing passes allow customers to pay one low price and then get multiple admissions, saving money and time in the process. "As San Diego’s number one tourist attraction, we’ve welcomed over 130 million visitors since we opened in 1964,” said Marilyn Hannes, SeaWorld’s vice president of marketing. “We look forward to working with Smart Destinations to help us welcome the next 130 million.” SeaWorld will now be an included admission on 3, 5, and 7 day Go San Diego Cards. San Diego Zoo’s Elephant Odyssey

The San Diego Zoo’s brand-new Elephant Odyssey exhibit is fun in mammoth proportions! Opening on May 23rd, 2009, this new exhibit takes people on a progression through the evolution of the Elephant.
