Orlando Film Festival

It's definitely the season for movies across the country, and this October central Florida gets in on the action with its Orlando Film Festival -  a celebration of independent film right in Downtown Orlando! The festival draws in big crowds, with just over 300 filmmakers in attendance for the 130+ films screened. This year, the festival starts on Wednesday, October 17 and wraps up Sunday, October 21. Passes are pretty cheap - starting at only $10 for a day's worth of movies, you'll see big names like Cheri Oteri and Jim Carey at theaters throughout Downtown Orlando. There are also VIP passes available for anyone who's wondered what it's like to get the red carpet treatment; special seating, discounted (and free!) drinks, and VIP party access is only $100 for the entire festival. Explore Sea World Orlando’s New Turtle Trek!

There's a new exhibit opening at your favorite ocean theme park! Turtle Trek is the newest addition to SeaWorld Orlando, and with the new attraction comes a renewed focus on the vulnerable sea turtle population of the world. The Free 2012 Caladium Festival Returns This Weekend!

Have you heard of the caladium? It's more commonly called Angel Wings, the Heart of Jesus, or elephant ear. If you've ever traveled southern Florida, or as far away as Central or South America, then you've probably walked or driven by one during your visit. This popular flower is the talk of the town in Lake Placid, which is dubbed the "Caladium Capital of the World." Ever since the 1940s, growing these exotic flowers has been the number one industry in Lake Placid. The area has been celebrating its most important industry since 1990, when competitors Happiness Farms and Bates Sons & Daughters joined forces to create a one bus, two run gathering of locals and industry folks. Mount Dora Makes a Perfect Break From Orlando
