Looking for family-friendly attractions in San Diego? Pay a visit to the San Diego County Fair, the largest annual event in San Diego County and the 4th largest fair in the entire country! When a group of San Diego farmers formed an agricultural fair in 1880 to share ideas and compare produce, they never dreamed that over a hundred years later, more than one million people would be carrying on the tradition…with the addition of rides, games, musical performances, exhibitions, and special events.   Since 1946, the beloved San Diego County Fair has been held annually at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. This year, the 24-day festival of fun begins on Friday, June 8th and runs through Wednesday, July 4th, closing only on Mondays (with the exception of July 2). The theme, a tradition introduced in 1990, is “Out of This World,” an exploration of outer space, the wonder of the universe, and the imaginative world of science fiction. You can expect visitors from other planets to make appearances! The majority of the entertainment at the fair is free with fair admission, … [Read more...]
