The Obama’s Choose Asheville For Spring Break Vacation

President Obama and the First Lady have decided to visit the mountain region of North Carolina for a little spring break r & r this weekend.  They’ll be staying in Asheville, NC to be exact.  And who can blame them?  We’ve been saying for years that Asheville is THE up and coming hot spot for a fun, unique, and relaxing vacation!  Word has it that Air Force One touched down in Asheville Friday afternoon and the buzz has already begun, with North Carolinian’s speculating on the First Family’s plans.

One thing we know for pretty certain is that they’ll be staying at the posh Grove Park Inn.  The hotel has already warned guests that the property will be in a state of heightened security and all cars will be subject to search.  But where else will the Obama’s appear this weekend?

If they asked us, we would have suggested the following. And of course, we would make sure that they had a Go Blue Ridge Card attraction pass in their hands to see the sights like a true and experienced visitor!

  • Biltmore - Known as America’s largest home, this magnificent estate puts the White House to shame. With 35 bedrooms and 43 bathrooms, the Obama girls could sleep in a different room every day of the month!
  • Great Smoky Mountains Railroad excursion – A first class ticket on this4+ hour old fashioned train excursion would acquaint them with the breathtaking and unique landscape that defines North Carolina.
  • Wine Tasting in the High Country – North Carolina is home to some excellent wineries that produce award winning wines from locally grown grapes. Hint hint, Mr. President.  These would make a great addition to any State Dinner.
  • LaZoom Comedy Tours of Asheville – Because we all need a little humor in our lives once in a while…even if we are the leader of the free world!

What do you think?  Did I miss anything?  Be sure to let me know. Maybe the President is reading this right now for suggestions! (Hey, a girl can dream).
