The lovebirds are in luck this year, as Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday—the perfect timing for a romantic night out. Of course, you don’t have to be head over heals for someone to enjoy Valentine’s Day in Orlando. Whether you’re heading out on a first date, relaxing or letting loose with friends, or enjoying a weekend with the love of your life, there are plenty of things to do in Orlando this Valentine’s Day.
This year, we want to step out of the mold and share some unique and creative ways to enjoy Valentine’s Day. We’ve rounded the coolest ideas and events in Central Florida so that you won’t be left hanging at the last minute.
Romance on the Water
The tranquil stretches of lakes and canals in Winter Park make for the perfect backdrop to a first date or a relaxing urban escape. A Winter Park Boat Tour leads you through lush landscapes with exotic vegetation, including the Kraft Azalea Gardens and the Isle of Sicily, before sailing back to civilization to see the opulent private estates that line the shores. This one-hour tour is fun for everyone, but due to the narration provided by your tour guide, and the company of your fellow passengers, it may not be the right choice for a mushy lovers’ retreat.
Love on the Wild Side
If you and your partner are the adventurous type, the Boggy Creek Airboat Tour might be more your style. In this wilderness excursion through the Central Florida Everglades, you’ll feel like a true explorer, navigating through marshy grasses in the midst of alligators, turtles, and native birds.
Another option for the adventurer: Jungle Island! This premier attraction uses Miami’s sub-tropical landscape as its habitat for a jungle full wild animals from around the world, including over 300 vibrant birds, from African Penguins to Parrots. Jungle Island also offers a special Valentine’s Day event called “Wild Affair, ” a romantic evening under the stars with live music, fine wine, and appetizers. It’s perfect for the couples that can do without overcrowded restaurants and long lines. This special event is not included in general admission.
Those Who Run Together, Stay Together
Get a group of fun-loving friends together for Orlando’s second annual Cupid’s Undie Run! On Saturday, February 15th, you can run for charity…in your underwear! It’s just about as ridiculous as it sounds, but equally hilarious and entertaining. The run benefits the Children’s Tumor Foundation, so this exercise will be good for your heart in more ways than one.
Athletic couples out there: work off your indulgences (chocolate, wine, fancy dinners) from the night before with this super fun activity.
Laid-back Evening in the Park
Looking for romantic, leisurely things to do in Orlando this Valentine’s Day forgo the fuss or spending a fortune? Romance in the Park and the Food Truck Bizarre is the ideal evening event for you. On February 14th from 6 pM – 9 pm plop down on a blanket in Lake Concord Park for a free performance by Janine Klein, an award-winning singer-songwriter. Fifteen gourmet food trucks will also be on site (no need for reservations, here!) and local artists will have their unique masterpieces on display.
