Miami holiday attractions

While you may think of Miami only as a place for fun in the sun, South Beach has plenty of holiday spirit to go around. If you’re going to be spending any time this holiday season in South Florida, you might want to check out one or more of these festive Miami holiday attractions!

For starters, if you’re looking for a weekend itinerary but don’t know where to start, pick up a Miami Holiday Attractions Pass. This specially-themed Go Select package combines two of our favorite attractions – the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens and Zoo Miami – into one easy to use pass. Both attractions are open year round, but they do some really fun stuff for the holidays! On December 18th and 20th, visitors can experience “Holiday Evenings at the Vizcaya,” a chance to tour the period Christmas decorations while enjoying some traditional holiday music. Zoo Miami is hosting “Zoo Lights” from December 20th – 30th, when the park will be filled with decorated trees, animal shaped lights, and family-friendly holiday fun like carousel rides, hot chocolate, and a chance to meet Santa.

Winter Wonder Island 2

Winter Wonder Island!

Kids will especially love the Winter Wonder Island event at Jungle Island. Until January 5, 2014, Jungle Island will turn into a snow-covered winter wonderland by night. Enjoy all of the classic winter activities – sledding, snowman building, even snowball fighting. You can also take in a Christmas movie or holiday show, like the “Northern Lights Laser Show.” One of the most exciting holiday Miami attractions, Winter Wonder Island is the perfect addition to a wintertime visit to South Beach.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmastime without Santa. While he might pop around town now and again (making an appearance to visit the animals at Zoo Lights Miami, for example), the best place to find Santa is at Santa’s Enchanted Forest. It’s the world’s largest holiday theme park and carnival and a popular South Florida tradition for the whole family – and this year marks its 25th anniversary!. In addition to your favorite rides and attractions like roller coasters, Ferris wheels, and all kinds of thrilling speed rides, there are also a number of special shows and events at this festive theme park.  Participate in Christmas karaoke, stroll down Mistletoe Lane, and check out South Florida’s tallest Christmas Tree at this can’t-miss Miami attraction.
