Top Orlando Winter Attractions

Legoland Florida

Orlando, Florida is the go-to winter vacation destination for so many families because of its warm, sunny climate and the amazing variety of Orlando attractions. Of course, Orlando is home to many theme parks, which are fun for kids yet expensive and chaotic during the prime winter months. However, beyond Disney World, Orlando hosts numerous attractions that you won’t have to pay an arm and a leg for, and there’s a good chance you and the kids will enjoy them just as much if not more than a over-crowded theme park.

Just take a look at some of the many adventures upon which you can embark this winter, from feeding alligators and swimming with manatees to hopping on roller coasters at some of the smaller parks.

LEGOLAND®

Younger kids will go crazy for this unique theme park devoted to everyone’s favorite colored building blocks—but parents will likely be in awe as well when they see the intricate mini replicas of entire cities! LEGOLAND Florida is the largest of all LEGOLAND® parks, covering a full 150 acres of land. From hunting for treasure at The Land of Adventure to building and testing your own LEGO® inventions in the Imagination Zone, you’re in for a full day of fun. This winter, a trip to LEGOLAND® is extra exciting because of the upcoming release of the first ever full-length LEGO® movie (conveniently called The LEGO Movie) hits theaters on February 7th.

Busch Gardens

Just an hour away from Orlando in Tampa, Busch Gardens offers the exciting opportunity to combine up-close animal encounters with thrill rides and other amusement park favorites. Characterized by its beautiful subtropical gardens, Busch Gardens brings the family together for world-class fun. Rollercoaster lovers will have plenty to do here, with incredible rides like SheiKra, that includes a 90-degree drop at 70 mph and Montu, a coaster with seven inversions.

Fun Spot Action Park

Looking for a tamer amusement park that even the youngest kids will enjoy? Try Fun Spot Action Park, known for its safe and dynamic rides and games. The highlight of this park is the Multi-Level Go-Kart Track attraction, which include a 28-foot hill and super complex turns for advanced drivers. However, even the most inexperienced drivers can go on start out on the Cadet Track, designed with younger drivers in mind.

Swim with Manatees

"Hello." - Manatee

“Hello.” – Manatee

Perhaps one of the coolest Orlando attractions, a Swim with the Manatees is one of those vacation adventures you’ll have to write home about. While your friends back home are wrapped in winter parkas and shoveling out their cars, you’ll be swimming with one of the most gentle and lovable sea creatures in their natural habitat. This excursion departs from Orlando and heads to Crystal River in Citrus County, which is often referred to as the “Home of the Manatee.” It’s here that you’ll put on your snorkel gear and hop in the water to spend some time with these gentle giants, which are sadly the most endangered species in Florida. Once you see them, we know you’ll fall in love and do all you can to help them out!
