Description
All aboard the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. You'll enjoy railroad history, a ghostly tunnel, a 780 foot long trestle standing 100 feet above water, a Fugitive, and an Iron Horse. The GSMR 2009 excursion schedule features the Nantahala Gorge and Fontana Trestle excursions. The Nantahala Gorge is a 4.5 hour, 44 mile round trip that departs historic Bryson City and travels along the Tuckasegee River cross Fontana Lake and into the Nantahala Gorge for a one hour layover. The Fontana Trestle is 2 hours round trip with no layover that travels to the Fontana Lake Trestle to view the magnificent sunset on the lake.
