Trains Museum at Great Smoky Mountains Railroad
A $9.00 value, included in the Go Blue Ridge Card!
The Smoky Mountain Trains Museum is more than an ordinary museum. With its collection of 7,000 Lionel engines, cars, and accessories, impressive operating layout, children's activity center, and gift/toy shop, the museum has something for everyone. The museum displays an impressive 45x24 foot layout with over a mile of track on three levels operating six trains simultaneously with steam and diesel locomotives. The display also includes an operating turntable with roundhouse, live cascading five-foot waterfall, freight yard with 400 cars, 12 animated scenes, and over 60 scratch-built buildings. A second 15x21 interactive layout was added in 2006. The displays are made up of Pre-War (1901-1942) and Post-War (1945-1969) eras. In addition, over 2,000 Lionel engines, rolling stock/passenger cars and accessories from the Modern era (1970 to present) are on display throughout the museum or operating on the layouts. Located adjacent to the Bryson City Depot.
