Go Boston Card
Reviews

With the Go Boston Card, you'll get access to over 59 attractions. Plus, skip the line at top sights and save with special discounts. Just choose how many consecutive days you want to go sightseeing!

Learn how it works or talk to one of our travel experts at 866-628-9027.

How it Works

  1. Pick how many calendar days of sightseeing you want. You don’t even have to choose what to do in advance, simply buy a pass for each person who will be visiting attractions and you’re free to do as you choose. Child prices apply to kids ages 3-12 years of age.

  2. Have your card shipped or pick it up at one of our redemption centers at your destination. We recommend having the card shipped if you are buying two weeks or more in advance. This gives you more time to visit attractions and saves the hassle of getting to and from a redemption center, which may not be near a desired attraction.

  3. Swipe your card and go right in to over 70 attractions. Just present your card at the ticket window for admission between opening and 5:30 PM. The staff will swipe it and you’re ready to go. 3,5 and 7 day cards also include one free bonus admission and you can even skip the line at many top attractions!

  4. Plan ahead online, or use the free guidebook to decide where to go once you’re there. Either way, having an idea of where you want to go will help you get the most out of your pass. Make sure you read the details for each attraction to find out specific admission information and if reservations are required.

LOVE the GO CARDS!!
By MP Verified Reviewer from Slidell, LA on 10/23/2011
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

I just got back from Boston, used the 5 day card for Boston and Newport RI. My husband and I saved at least 110.00 each and we did a lot more things than we normally would have done. Like the aquarium, we only had an hour before it closed, but since it was on the card we went in and still were able to see the highlights, otherwise we would have not paid since we would not have gotten our money's worth. All the venders were happy to take the card, had no problems at all. We had also used the Blue Ridge Go card during the summer and it was great also. I look forward to going many more places that have the Go Card!! Just plan your time so you can get the most out of the card, and you will love it.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

This is a great card IF you plan the trip. We had an alternative plan for rain and it did for a day and a half (8/14-8/15/11). We toured the National Aquarium and Children's Museum as inside activities on the rain day. We only completed these 2 things on that day which is why planning is important. Also, many places are only open 9 or 10 to 4 or 5 so don't plan to see everything due to travel time between destinations and the time to see it. Plan a few things a day for what you may do and then do a comparison between just paying the admission and the card. It is convenient and it also saved us time in lines, like the Aquarium, as we could just walk to the desk and be admitted. (The Aquarium had a long line at 9:00 when it opened and we avoided it). I would recommmend the card.

Over all good experience

Cons:
Time restrictive,
Bottom Line:

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

Overall the experience was good... I feel like we got our money's worth out of the card... if we didn't have our own vehicle it would have been difficult to get from one attraction to another... the hop on hop off trolloy was a major pain... couldn't find the ticket pickup near the commons went to the prudential centre that one was hard to find... spent 2 hours trying to get the ticket then waited for over 30 minutes at a pick up spot and no trolloy came so we gave up... we were really looking forward to this that was the most frustrating part of using this ticket...

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

My sisters and I planned a family trip, and purchased the 3 day card. We took the Duck Tour, Freedom Trail tour, Fenway Park Tour, Boston Massacre tour at Old State House, Whale Watch, Swan Boats, and went to the Aquarium twice.(one day we went in around 4 and the next day we went in for an hour, while waiting for the whale watch...best part...we didn't have to wait in the LONG LINE!) We also went to the Museum of Fine Art to see the Chihuly Exhibit. We definitely felt we got our money's worth..it saved time, and we weren't always looking for money..We ordered the cards a few weeks before our trip, had them sent and then planned all the things we wanted to see and do.We also used the discounts for souvenirs.Whale watch was awesome...whales were up close and way too many to count. Tour guides at Fenway and Freedom Trail were terrific. (it was 95 degrees and our tour guide kept my 9 year old nephews interest for the 90 minute tour.Just can't say enough about our weekend..and really give alot of credit to having the card and preplanning.Keep the book handy..We were going to do the Trolley Tour and went to Quincy Market to pick up the tickets...it was no longer there..but I called and they told me how to get to the nearest spot..unfortunately we ran out of time and never did the Trolley. Everyone is very helpful.PS. If you want an early Duck Tour..get to the Prudential Center..get in line by 8:15-they open at 8:30. (We got a 10:30 tour...but we needed 7 seats.Same thing for Fenway Park..we got to the Team Store at 8:30- we got on the 9:00 tour.

Boston Go Card
By Joe from Boston, MA on 6/14/2011
Pros:
Ease of Use
Cons:
Not all tours worth it
Best Uses:
Museum of Art Museum of Science Duck tour
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

If you want to enjoy your Boston trip, DONT take the Whale Tour! The boat was running 40 minutes late, it was full, the captain decided to run the boat at Full speed for 1 1/2 hours to the whale site, more than half the passengers were vomiting at this point, we spent at most 20 minutes looking for whales, spotted a few for seconds and the captain left!, spent another hellish 1 1/2 hours going back, at this point, the whole boat smelled of vomit, almost everyone was sick! DO NOT take the worthless whale tour also, the lunch tour was also a waste, it was boring, the food was bad The museums were excellent We enjoyed Boston Gardens and Boston Commons the most which were free!

great deal, Cusomer service
Bottom Line:

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

I purchased 3 Go Boston cards for the 7 day package and the very next day they went on sale, So I called the customer service number and asked if I could get refunded for the sale price, she said it was no problem and was very friendly, with in the hour I had my money back (the difference of the sale price). With the discount it became [$] dollars a day for each of us to tour Massachusetts, pretty good deal to me! The customer service was great and we are excited to use our cards for our trip to Boston!

Loved the Go Card!
By Kerry717 Verified Reviewer from New York on 10/26/2010
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

I ordered GoCards for my boyfriend and I when we were in visiting from NY. I figured it was worth a shot to try! We loved it. The only thing is you really have to plan out your attractions/times in advance. There are many attractions that close earlier compared to the others or are limited on weekends etc. Value-wise the card is great. I ended up buying a three day card and on our way back to NY we stopped and did Six Flags which made the card worth it for sure since it gives you free admission to the park. I also recommend using the T which is Boston's subway...super easy compared to NYC. It's color coded and you can easily get around in minutes. We purchased a day pass for the subway and moved all over the city from site to site easily. We're excited to purchase GoCards when we go to other cities.

Go Boston Card ROCKS!!!
By Liz the Lemon Verified Reviewer from Cleveland, OH on 10/13/2010
Pros:
Easy to use, Savings, Useful Guidebook
Cons:
none,
Best Uses:
Included Harbor Cruise, Orchard House- Concord, Grey Line Trolley Tour
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

This was our first trip to Boston and our first time using a Go Card. We found the Go Boston Card to be an incredible value and so easy to use. We visited Orchard House (in Concord), then drove in to Boston and took the GreyLine Trolley Tour all around the city- then did the included Harbor Cruise. Not only was the card hassle-free, it also came with a useful pocket sized guidebook that noted important info, like where to take your card to get the vouchers to ride the trolley and boat etc. We also ate lunch at a great restaurant in the North End (Strega) and found out the DAY AFTER that it was 30% off- with the card! Lesson learned: read thru the all the "special offers" to get most bang for your buck- its worth it!!

Go Boston Card Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. How do I activate my card?
2. How many days should I buy?
3. What is the age cut off for child tickets?
4. Do cards expire?
5. How do the bonus attractions work?
6. Is there a time cut off on my card?
7. Are cards ‘days’ good for 24 hours or days of the week?
8. Do I need to make reservations with the attractions?
9. Should I have my card shipped or pick it up in Boston?
10. How do I buy online and pick up in Boston?
11. Are there places to buy cards in Boston?
12. How long will it take to get my order?
13. I still have questions!

1. How do I activate my card?

Cards are activated upon first use and are good for the number of calendar days of activity you have purchased.

2. How many days should I buy?

We suggest counting the total number of attractions you would like to see and dividing it by how many attractions you can realistically visit each day to come up with an estimate. For example, if you want to see 6 attractions and you can reasonably get to 2 each day, then buy a 3 day pass. 6 attractions / 2 attractions per day = 3 days.

Based on customer feedback, people tend to visit fewer attractions each day than they expect. Remember to account for meals, travel and rest time, especially if traveling with kids. Remember that 3, 5 & 7 day cards include a bonus attraction and that the Go Boston Card is good for admission until 5:30.

3. What is the age cut off for child tickets?

Child tickets are for those 3-12 years of age. Most attractions are free for children under 3.

4. Do cards expire?

Yes, unused cards purchased this year expire on December 31 of next year. We will refund the fully cost of any unused, unexpired passes for one year from the date of purchase.

5. How do the bonus attractions work?

A single bonus admission is included only on 3,5 & 7 day cards. You are entitled to one free admission to one of the eligible bonus attractions. You do not need to choose which bonus admission you want at the time of purchase.

6. Is there a time cut off on my card?

The Go Boston Card is valid for admission from the time an attraction opens in the morning through 5:30 pm. If within normal hours of operation, you do not need to leave the attraction by 5:30, just be in the door by then.

7. Are cards ‘days’ good for 24 hours or days of the week?

Days of the week. For example, if you activated your card on a Tuesday, whether you did it at 9 AM or 5 pm, Tuesday’s usage counts as one day and does not extend into Wednesday.

8. Do I need to make reservations with the attractions?

Some attractions do require reservations. Please be sure to check the attraction details in the guidebook or on our website to determine if you need to make a reservation with an attraction. Please be aware that some attractions may require a credit card number to hold a reservation.

9. Should I have my card shipped or pick it up in Boston?

We recommend having your card shipped if your travel date is more than 2 weeks away. Having your card shipped saves the time associated with travel to a redemption location, which may not be near a desired attraction. Card ‘days’ are based on calendar days, not a 24 hour period, so shipping allows you to fit more sightseeing into your day.

10. How do I buy online and pick up in Boston?

If you choose to pick up your card at your destination, you will be presented with a printable voucher at checkout. You will need to bring the voucher to one of our redemption locations and exchange it for your card; you can’t use the printed voucher for admission.

11. Are there places to buy cards in Boston?

Yes. We have several Go Boston Card sales locations. Please be aware that any sale pricing seen on the website is not available at a sales location.

12. How long will it take to get my order?

Orders placed before 3PM on regular business days will ship the same day. Orders placed after 3 PM on regular business days will ship the next business day.

Time in transit will vary based on the shipping method you choose.
