Boston Children's Museum has been building innovative, meaningful, and fun exhibits for over 96 years, with a continued emphasis on ‘hands-on engagement and learning through experience’ that has served as an inspiration to other museums around the world, as well as to the countless visitors (young and old) who walk through its halls.

Designed for children and families, the exhibits focus on science, culture, environmental awareness, health & fitness, and the arts, and promote a love of learning and exploration that is crucial to the development of any child. Redemption Instructions

Please present your Go Boston Card to any ticket taker. They will validate it, return your card, and let you in.

Children over the age of 1 who are not holding a Go Boston Card will be charged full retail admission.

Public Transportation

Take the T: Red Line to South Station. Exit South Station and take a right onto Summer St., walking one block towards the water. Take the first left on Dorchester Ave. Follow one block and turn right over the Congress Street Bridge. At the stoplight, turn right onto Congress St. and proceed across the bridge. You’ll see the Museum ahead, behind the 40-foot milk bottle. Or Silver Line to Courthouse Station. Upon exiting, turn left (toward the City of Boston skyline). Walk straight down Seaport Blvd. Cross Sleeper St. and enter the Museum’s Children’s Wharf Park. Take a left onto the Boston Harborwalk along the Fort Point Channel to the Museum entrance.

  • Art Studio: A hands-on, messy activity area for families to make art together using various mediums such as clay, fabric, and felt.
  • The Common: Play with magical light and shadow games, or find your way through a giant maze! The Common also features a giant chess game and animal meet and greets!
  • Our Green Trail: Highlights the green aspects of the Boston Children’s Museum in an easy-to-understand manner that will promote a love of energy efficiency even with the youngest visitors!
  • Japanese House: A cultural visit to an authentic house from Kyoto, Japan! Explore the ceremonies, art, and architecture involved in this 100-year old house that was a gift to the city of Boston from Kyoto!
  • Science Playground: Explore the natural world using all your senses, and test the laws of motion in “Raceways” with golf balls and various tracks, or create bubbles and pique your curiosity about the natural laws of day-to-day life.
  • Construction Zone: Dig, tunnel, build, and break! Ride a real Bobcat, or play with a jackhammer in your own construction site!

Kids, ages 10, 9 and 6, loved it. Spent the afternoon there. There was a lot of interactive things for them to do and they learned in the process.

We all could have spent an entire day here. As it was, we were here for several hours and I feel like we did not see it all. The kids loved the raceway room and the tent.

This museum is fun for kids of all ages... and adults too. The exhibits are great and there is so much to do and see. There is a great "toddler room" with a family lounge where you can take a break if the little ones get overwhelmed. If you go, don't miss the bakery FLOUR, which is just two blocks away (we had breakfast there and loved it so much, we went back for lunch!).
