The Charles cuts directly through two cities, offering spectacular views of both the Boston and Cambridge skylines. This 60-minute tour takes you around the Charles River Basin as the Captain points out the most historic sights on each shore.

What better way to see Boston than by riverboat? The Charles Riverboat Company takes you on a 60-minute tour, packed with historical insights and facts about Beantown, as well as great photo opportunities! Boston is easily a top competitor for most beautiful urban scenery, and that’s in no small part due to its situation along the Charles River. Dividing Boston from Cambridge, the Charles gently rolls through the city, opening out into Boston Harbor and eventually into the mighty Atlantic, illuminating the spirit of Boston. Beautiful skylines and scenery can be seen from any point along the river, and the Charles is one of the features that help to make this New England city highly recognizable, and remarkably beautiful. What will you see on your tour?

The hour-long Charles River Riverboat Cruise departs from Canal Park at the CambridgeSide Galleria Mall in East Cambridge, and proceeds to show you the highlights of Boston and Cambridge, as it navigates the Charles River Basin. Your knowledgeable captain will point out the most historic sights of Boston and Cambridge. You will see Beacon Hill, home to many of Boston’s politicians and the beautiful gold-domed Massachusetts statehouse. You’ll cruise by the Boston Esplanade and Hatch Shell, an outdoor area that is popular with the area’s joggers and bikers and also regularly sees world-class performers at the open-air concert venue. The river is flanked by universities (there are more than 60 in the city), and you will pass the prominent and historic campuses of Boston University, MIT, and even Harvard! Keep an eye out for the university crew teams that regularly practice on this stretch of the Charles, launching from their beautifully decorated row houses.

The Charles River Riverboat Cruise provides wonderful opportunities for photographs, and the city’s prominent skyline makes a stunning backdrop against the river. You’ll be able to see the skyline of the Financial District, as well as the prominent Prudential Center tower (Boston’s tallest building) in the historic BackBay neighborhood, and so much more! Enjoy your hour-long cruise and relax as your guide ambles along the placid river with you, letting you take in the magic of Beantown!

Comments about Smart Destinations Charles Riverboat Cruise:

Easy to use, easy to get ticket before the cruise. Great way to see Boston. Guide was funny and entertaining. Go Boston Card was great, we got to do lots of attractions and saved on cost. We did more attractions with the Go Boston card than if we hadn't baught it, it makes you discover lots of great things about Boston. Would recommend it to anyone. We used it for 2 adults and 2 children and saved at least 300$

Comments about Smart Destinations Charles Riverboat Cruise:

Our trip was cut short due to boat problems, but a second boat swiftly arrived and a great group of people were operating it. Highly recommend the 10am lock tour. The locks were one of the highlights of the trip. It also incorporated the same sites as the Boston Harbor Cruise! Loved the trip, left very relaxed and wishing it wouldn't end.
