Description

Franklin Park Zoo is a 72-acre site nestled within Boston's historic Franklin Park. Here, guests can experience the most innovative and intimate indoor gorilla exhibit in the world. Visitors to the signature Tropical Forest can stand face-to-face with the Zoo's seven western lowland gorillas at one of five glass viewing stations in the state-of-the-art indoor exhibit. It's a truly unforgettable experience! While at Franklin Park Zoo, be sure to also visit the African lion in the Kalahari Kingdom, the tigers in the Tiger Tales exhibit, the Masai giraffe and Grevy's zebra on the Giraffe Savannah, and the many other remarkable species that call the Zoo home.

For those not familiar with Boston's zoo, one of the nice things about the Franklin Park Zoo is the relatively spacious layout. While the glass in front of the tiger’s enclosure can and does get crowded (as does any spot where the gorillas have decided to spend time observing the humans), this is the exception rather than the rule. Unlike many zoo’s where just getting around is an exercise in stroller dodging, you rarely feel cramped as you move around the zoo’s many viewing areas. The zoo also does a nice job mixing things up by having a regular schedule of feedings (try to catch the wild dogs feeding if you can) and hands-on encounters (don’t be surprised if your offered a meeting with a snake).

Thanks to its layout and open spaces, the Franklin Park Zoo is a great place to stretch your legs – or give your kids a little room to run -- on your trip to Boston.
