FREE Harvard Museum admission with a Go Boston Card or as a choice with a Boston Explorer Pass

Description
Explore 12,000 specimens from around the world, including dinosaurs, hundreds of animals, huge whale skeletons, amazing insects, and butterflies. Get close to one of the first Triceratops ever discovered and see the world's only mounted Kronosaurus, a 42 ft-long prehistoric marine reptile. Touch meteorites from outer space and find thousands of minerals and gems, including a 1,642-lb amethyst geode. Discover how color is produced and how and why color variation has evolved in a wide variety of birds and animals in the new exhibit, Language of Color (on display through 2011).

The museum's collection of Glass Flowers is the only one of its kind in the world. Between 1886 and 1936, father-son glass artisans Leopold and Rudolph Blaschka produced exquisite, breathtakingly lifelike models of over 3,000 plants to be used for teaching botany.

Comments about Smart Destinations Harvard Museum of Natural History:

Took a family of 4. Walked across the campus to find it tucked into a science building. Well worth the effort to go and see it. Found thousands of specimens, some endangered and extinct. Well preserved and identified. organized well, but has lots of turns and twists, easy to miss an aisle of things.
