Public Transportation

Take the T: Blue Line to Aquarium stop. The main office is located on Long Wharf, adjacent to the Aquarium. Walk past the Long Wharf Marriott toward the water. After the Chart House Restaurant, the office is on the first floor of the last building on Long Wharf, just past the main entrance to the building. Look for the “Boston’s Tall Ships” sign hanging over the # 67 doorway.

The 125-foot Liberty Clipper is a gaff-rigged topsail schooner, fashioned in the stately tradition of the spectacular wind-driven coastal schooners of the mid-1800s. This class of schooner helped to create the rich nautical history of Boston and New England. Boston's Tall Ships brings you a hands-on boating experience and a great way to learn why Boston has consistently been among the country’s great nautical strongholds.

Ships must meet strict requirements to be categorized as Tall Ships, and the Liberty Clipper is an authentic example. A schooner is a type of ship characterized by the use of fore-and-aft sails, with the forward mast being no taller than the rear mast. Schooners like Liberty Clipper were historically used by the Dutch in the 16th and 17th centuries, and then adopted by America in the 18th century, where they became more widely-used than anywhere else.

Boston Tall Ships brings you an authentic experience in one of America’s most historically important bodies of water. It was here in Boston Harbor that American colonists protested high taxes on goods such as tea by dumping the stuff over the sides of ships, and firing canons in displays of their own military prowess. Enjoy a pristine cruise aboard Liberty Clipper that will take you back in time and give you a new appreciation for Boston as one of America’s greatest maritime cities.

Comments about Smart Destinations Liberty Fleet Tall Ship Adventures:

The boat was impressive - a true Tall Ship! And the staff was knowledgable and had a sense of humor to boot. The only drawback was the weather, which I know they can't control, but it affected how far and fast we could sail. If it's a beautiful sunny day, I would probably give this 4 stars.
