At a time when women could not vote and were generally barred from the ministry and the medical profession, Mary Baker Eddy became one of the most successful and influential women of her day sharing ideas about life and health that defied the limiting conventions of her time. The library has a cafe and shop to complete your visit.

Comments about Smart Destinations The Mary Baker Eddy Library/Mapparium:
If you are in the area this is a very interesting exhibit of what the world looked like in the 1930's. You are inside the globe and the skill it took to make this is amazing. Four adults and one teenager thought it was very cool. I am bringing back my other teenager in October.

Comments about Smart Destinations The Mary Baker Eddy Library/Mapparium:
The Mapparium was extremely cool. You walk out onto a catwalk that runs through the center of a stained glass globe (so the world appears around you, with the North Pole above and the South Pole below) with the map of the world as it was just before WWII. Apparently plans to update it kept being derailed by the rapid pace of change in the world's boundaries. Anyway, definitely worth seeing. Very young children will probably be bored, so might steer clear if you have them in tow.
