A walking tour of Boston’s North End is just what the doctor ordered—especially when it involves stops at three of the city’s most beloved pizza joints, and the chance to weigh in on who really makes the best slice. Will it be the oldest pizzeria in town, an old-world Sicilian eatery, or somewhere else? You be the judge, and let your taste buds decide.

“America’s Walking City” is just one of Boston’s many nicknames, and it is one that you should take the time to understand and fully appreciate on this scrumptious walking tour of the North End. Which North End pizza joint makes the best slice? Find out for yourself as you explore the historically Italian district of downtown Boston, eating slice after slice of delicious old-world style pie.

Your tour will last approximately two hours, departing from 75 Commercial Street. As you walk, your pizza guru/tour guide will orient you with informational morsels about the North End and its important role in Boston’s history, as well as with appetizing tidbits about the various pizzerias that make up the streets of the North End. You will learn about and meet some of the charismatic personalities who call Boston’s “Little Italy” home, and check out the life and culture of a fully-functioning subculture right here in Beantown.

Your tour includes stops at three different pizza joints from Boston’s most reputable pizza establishments, complete with narration and a historical overview of each. You may visit a “hidden” Sicilian-style pizzeria or even Boston’s oldest pizzeria. You will also visit an old-world Italian grocery store, and find out where the ingredients for many of the city’s best pies come from.

Your tour includes 3 slices of pizza and restaurant gratuities.. Not included on the tour are any extra items (food or souvenirs) you purchase, and gratuity for your tour guide.

The walking tour of Boston’s North End pizza restaurants will culminate in a very important moment—when you must vote on which pizzeria wins “Best of Boston”. Don’t let the locals win you over with their fancy talk—let the pizza decide! May the best pie win.

Comments about Smart Destinations :

Was a really nice, personalized tour. Good Guide, learned about the North End and the history as well as sampled the famous Pizza from a few different, but equally good places!
