Description
Come to experience America's past first hand. Discover 1830s New England in a blacksmith's shop, a friendly country store, or amid the awesome beauty of heirloom gardens. Tour the Common with its white-steepled meetinghouse, period homes, and craft shops. Mosey past water-powered mills and 'meet' heritage pigs, sheep, and cattle. Walk through woodlands or along the riverbank. Try your hand at nearly forgotten crafts. Savor the seasons with 'barnyard babies' in spring, Baseball (1830s style) every summer, and a patriotic Independence Day Celebration (July 4). Celebrate fiery foliage and the autumn's harvest. In December, experience Christmas by Candlelight with a sleigh ride through history. Find unique gifts, crafts, books, and keepsakes in the Museum Gift Shop and New England Bookstore.

Comments about Smart Destinations Old Sturbridge Village:

Go back in time to this beautifully created village from gathered buildings around the area. Think of it as a smaller more intimate version of Colonial Williamsburg. From livestock to tinners, the interaction was everywhere. You could immerse yourself into the time period and feel as if you lived over 130 years ago. Could easily spend 2 days here, we did not get to see it all. A must if you are anywhere near this area. Worth the trip out of Boston.
