Description
Explore Salem's rich history on the Salem Heritage Walk. Tours are led by costumed interpreters who will guide you through Salem's history focusing on its triumphant Age of Sail, when privateers and merchant princes of Salem made names for themselves that survive in the city to this day.

Learn about the founding of Salem, its rise from a small fishing town to one of the most profitable ports in America, privateers of the American Revolution, Salem's Merchant Families and Salem's decline as a center of maritime commerce.

April-October: Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 am

Driving:
From Route 128: Take exit 25A, Route 114 East to Salem. Follow Route 114 into Salem where it will become North Street, then Summer Street (pass the Witch House on the right). Turn left onto Norman Street and then stay straight through the traffic light onto Derby Street (note: Route 114 will turn right at this corner toward Marblehead). Follow Derby Street throught the traffic light straight past the Beverly Cooperative Bank to the next intersection.
Public Transportation:
Take the T: MBTA Commuter Rail Newburyport/Rockport Line to Salem. Remember Salem is located near the Parks Service Visitor Center, Peabody Essex Museum, and Fool's Mansion.
