It says a lot that even locals clamor to sign up for this tour. Why? Segways are just plain fun. Sure, you may feel a little silly when you first climb on, but before long you'll be hooked. Catch your breath from giggling, and you'll catch some breathtaking views.

Segways are now commonly-used as a means of urban transportation, particularly in crowded areas where traffic can limit movement in a car or taxi, and they are especially popular with tourists! Segways offer a great way to see a city without the hassle of renting a car and navigating confusing roads, and without having to worry about walking long distances in short periods of time. Boston by Segway brings you a unique way to see the highlights of Beantown with its 1-Hour Boston Harbor Segway Adventure!

Avoid traffic and see the sights of Boston Harbor in style with Boston by Segways' 1-hour Segway Adventure, consistently voted one of Boston’s top attractions. Don’t be afraid, riding a Segway is easy and exciting! After completing a brief training lesson to help you find your balance, your tour guide will lead you through 60 minutes of pure fun. You’ll tour the area around Boston Harbor and have the opportunity to learn about the following sites:

  • Christopher Columbus Park: The first waterfront park in the city, the Christopher Columbus Park opened in 1976 for Boston’s Bicentennial, and features a rose garden, a beautiful wisteria trellis canopy, a spray fountain, and a statue of Christopher Columbus
  • The Rose Kennedy Greenway: A 1.5 mile-long series of parks and public spaces that constituted the final part of the infamous “Big Dig” project. The Greenway was officially opened in 2004 after much controversy
  • HarborWalk: A beautiful public walkway that follows the edges of piers, beaches, and the shoreline around Boston Harbor, and links up with miles of other pedestrian walking trails in the area
  • Northern Avenue Bridge: One of Boston’s two unusual swing bridges, featuring a truss structure, similar in style to the Charlestown Bridge, and only open to pedestrian traffic
  • The Seaport District: Boston’s happening harborside district, where you’ll find lots of wharf activity, boats, tall ships, authentic local eateries and more
  • The Institute of Contemporary Art: A modern art museum housed in one of the Seaport’s most unique waterfront buildings, located between the Courthouse and the World Trade Center

Enjoy this comprehensive Segway tour of the vibrant and pedestrian-friendly area around Boston Harbor, brought to you by Boston by Segway! Don’t get too attached to your new wheels though—you can’t take you Segway home with you-- but you can, and should take some fantastic photos of Beantown!

Comments about Smart Destinations Boston Harbor 1-Hour Segway Adventure by Boston Gliders:

We had 6 people aged 15 to 66 in our group and even grandma got the hang of the segways. It seems to book up early and we were only able to get a 8:30 in the morning booking. But we were so glad we took it. Doc was a great tour guide with lots of interesting facts. You dont want to miss this chance to ride the segways and see Boston.

The segways were great. Thought it would be hard to ride, but super easy to balance and stop. Needed to be as there was a lot of traffic in Boston!
