How it works

What do you mean by "consecutive calendar days"?

"Consecutive calendar days" are days in a row, on a calendar. A calendar day is not a 24-hour period.

For example, if you have a 3-Day Go Boston Card and visit your first attraction on a Monday evening, it is valid for the remainder of Monday (1st calendar day) and the two days immediately following it: Tuesday (2nd calendar day), and Wednesday (3rd calendar day).

Tip: to get the most out of your pass, plan to visit attractions early in the day.

Is this just a discount card? Will I still need to buy tickets?

No. Passes include admission to each attraction; no need to pay anything at the gate. Some attractions may offer upgrades or special exhibits for an additional fee.

Do I need to choose my attractions in advance?

Nope, you can choose from the included attractions as you go.

What is the age cut off for child cards?

Child cards are for children ages 3-12. Most attractions do not charge for children under 3 years old. However, there are some exceptions (especially children's museums and attractions geared toward very young travelers). If you have a child under 3 years old, please check with the attraction directly in advance. You may be charged at the gate.

How will I get my pass?

Instantly on your smart phone and via email!

  • Just print out your pass and guidebook.
  • Or, display it on your smart phone.
How do I "activate" my card?

Simply visit your first attraction!

Is my card valid all day?

You can enter attractions any time with the Go Boston Card.

What is your refund policy?

You'll have a full year from the day you purchase your passes to receive a full refund, as long as they are unused. However, the passes are non-refundable once they're activated.

How many days should I buy?

Most travelers visit between 2 and 3 attractions each day depending on individual preference. Our most popular card is the 3-Day card.

Can I purchase passes on the spur of the moment when I arrive in Boston?

Of course! With instant digital delivery, you can purchase and access passes right on your mobile device. Or, visit one of our local purchase locations.

Does a Go Boston Card expire?

Yes. You have one year from the date of purchase to begin using your pass. After one year, it will expire.

How much will I save?

Compare the price of the pass to the gate prices of the attractions you want to visit to see how much you can save. Or, check out some real savings examples from Go City Card customers to see how much they actually saved!

We give you the flexibility to create your own itinerary and choose the attractions you want to visit depending on your interests.

For inspiration, check out some of our sample itineraries, insider tips, and more for info on all the fun things to do in Boston so you can make the most of your time here.

How many attractions can I visit in one day?

On a Go Boston Card, you can visit as many attractions as you want in a day.

Can I visit an attraction more than once?

In most cases, you can visit each attraction once per day. Some attractions are valid only once during the life of the pass. Please reference your guidebook for specific information on each attraction.

Do I need to make reservations to visit the attractions?

Attractions that require a reservation will display this symbol on the guidebook page.

Some attractions require a credit card to hold a reservation. In these cases, your credit card will not be charged unless you do not show up for your reservation.

What’s the catch?

There’s no catch. Go Boston Card has a partnership with all of the participating attractions to make your visit to Boston as memorable as possible and to help you save time and money.

Can I share my pass with a friend or sell it?

No. The Go Boston Card is non-transferrable and may not be re-sold.

What happens if an attraction is closed or a tour is cancelled due to weather or other problem?

While we do our best to ensure that all attractions are available, events happen that are out of our control. The great thing about a Go Boston Card is that there are so many attractions to choose from. If an attraction is closed, or cannot be visited for some reason, we know you'll find a fun alternative in your guidebook!

I still have questions!

Please feel free to call us at 866‑628‑9027 and we’ll be happy to help you!

Note: A Go Boston Card is non-transferable. This means that once you start using it, you are the only person who can use it to get into attractions. Go Boston Cards may not be re-sold.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

this card did not have many of the benefits it advertised: 1. Trolley only operated during very limited hours and infrequently--- nowehere near the jump on/off advertised. 2.No skip to the front of the line at some of the attractions causing wasted time. 3.Getting coupon honored cost me 1 1/2 hours of wasted time. I would not use this pass in any city ever again.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

This card lulls you into thinking you are getting a much better deal than you actually are. Look very carefully at which attractions are actually open when you are in Boston - many close during fall/winter. The real loss of the card is the bus tour. This is the most expensive attraction, and it should be the best way of getting between attractions. However, the card works in connjunction with the Beantown Trolley. Smart destinations should distance themselves from this company as soon as possible. The first day, we could not ride the trolley because we never found the booth where it should have been. The second day, we were told we would have to wait over 90 minutes for a trolley, so that did not work on our short schedule. Amazingly, on the third day we managed to catch the trolley, but there is NOTHING hop-on/hop-off about this trolley. The only bus we saw our 3 days in Boston was the one we rode, and even the driver often turned people away because they wanted to be able to get back on if they ever got off. Add to this very unfriendly staff (bus driver excluded). We saw Old Town Trolley throughout Boston and would probably have been better buying their 48 hour pass and doing select attractions from the rest. The rest of the attractions (that were open) were enjoyable and the card worked well at all of them, and we never had any issues, but the bus tour sadly overshadowed the entire trip.

Transportation (Trolley) is very deceiving
By Yong from Atlanta, GA on
Pros:
Money Saver, Must-see attractions included
Cons:
Transportation not included,
Best Uses:
General Sightseeing,
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

It says the trolley is hop on/off trolley. Don't be fooled by that. The trolley included in this card only runs once every hour. There is a lot more commonly seen trolley (old town trolley, not the beantown trolley included in this card) that has a lot more stops every 15mins.

The Go Boston Card kept us on the Go!

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

The 3-day pass had to be used consecutively. While this forced us to do more on these three days than we might have liked to do, it would have been nice to be able to choose the three days to use the pass, especially if bad weather were to occur on one of the consecutive days. We were fairly lucky with the weather during our stay in Boston. We enjoyed the attractions that we went to, but we had to work at getting our money's worth. I think we did save some money overall. The guide helped us to focus on what we wanted to do and see during those 3 days. It is best to plan each day with activities that are near to each other as much as possible.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

This was the perfect way to see and do all the touristy stuff in Boston. We bought the 3 day and it included all of the activities we wanted to do and many more that we didn't have time for. It saved us a lot of money and all the vendors associated with the card were really friendly and familiar with how the card worked. I absolutely recommend this as a tool when visiting. The only small complaint I had was I wasn't overwhelmed with the Beantown Trolley they are affiliated with. They were ok for what they were intended for but it was clear the other Hop-On Hop-Off alternatives had better vehicles and more frequent stops. Overall...This card is great.

Trolley Service was unacceptable
By Susan from Boston, MA on
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

Purchased this as a way to see the city. We planned our two days by using the trolley to take us from location to location. However the trolley schedule was less than ideal and extremely crowded. Our 5 children were separated though out the trolley as there were never two seats together. So my four year old had to sit next to a stranger. We decided to ditch the trolley and walk or drive which ultimately limited the sites we could visit, once again loosing the value of the card. After the time to walk or cost to park it definitely would have been more cost effective to just buy tickets for the places we went versus the go card. I will never buy or recommend to go card to any future Massachusetts visitors.

Smart Destinations Response: Hi Susan, We are sincerely sorry to hear this. Although some things are out of our control, such as crowded buses, we do try our very best to make sure customers are happy with the attractions. We are going to send you an email directly to see if there are any modifications that can be made to your order to make up for this. Thank you very much for taking the time to let us know about your experience using the Go Boston Card.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

The card was useful for a few events. The main concern with this was the trolley. It was terrible. Not enough buses running, skipped pick ups, rude to customers. Why does Go Boston keep this company on their card. I personally would not purchase this again!

Smart Destinations Response: Hi there, This is really important information for us to hear. We are aware of the issues with the Trolley service and are working with them directly to resolve it. We are going to send you an e-mail directly to see if there is anything more that can be done. Thank you for taking the time to write to us.
