How it works

What do you mean by "consecutive calendar days"?

"Consecutive calendar days" are days in a row, on a calendar. A calendar day is not a 24-hour period.

For example, if you have a 3-Day Go Boston Card and visit your first attraction on a Monday evening, it is valid for the remainder of Monday (1st calendar day) and the two days immediately following it: Tuesday (2nd calendar day), and Wednesday (3rd calendar day).

Tip: to get the most out of your pass, plan to visit attractions early in the day.

How do I "activate" my card?

Simply visit your first attraction!

How many days should I buy?

Most travelers visit between 2 and 3 attractions each day depending on individual preference. Our most popular card is the 3-Day card.

Is my card valid all day?

You can enter attractions any time with the Go Boston Card.

What is your refund policy?

We know sometimes travel plans change, even at the very last minute. That's why, if you don't end up activating and using your pass within a year of the purchase date, we'll give you a full refund. No questions asked.

Here's the best part: unlike our competitors, this built-in cancellation insurance comes with every card purchase — free of charge.

If you have any questions, or if you would like to initiate a refund anytime within 1 year of your purchase, please call our Customer Care Team at 800-887-9103. We'll tell you how you can return your non-activated card or pass.

Please note: Activated passes are non-refundable.

Which delivery method should I choose?
  • Instant delivery is the fastest option. You'll be able to access your Go Boston Card from your email or on your phone immediately after you purchase.
With instant delivery you will receive a printable and mobile version of our guidebook.
  • Having your cards shipped in advance will save you time traveling to a pick up location when you get there. Note that transit times vary depending on shipping options. View delivery options.
Do you ship Go Boston Cards to hotels?

Sorry, we cannot ship to hotels because of delivery concerns.

Where can I buy the cards in Boston?

View a list of purchase locations in Boston. Note that in-city purchases are available for full price only.

Does a Go Boston Card expire?

Yes. You have one year from the date of purchase to begin using your pass. After one year, it will expire.

How much will I save?

Compare the price of the pass to the gate prices of the attractions you want to visit to see how much you can save. Many customers save more than 50%.

We give you the flexibility to create your own itinerary and choose the attractions you want to visit depending on your interests.

For inspiration, check out some of our sample itineraries, insider tips, and more for info on all the fun things to do in Boston so you can make the most of your time here.

How many attractions can I visit in one day?

On a Go Boston Card, you can visit as many attractions as you want in a day.

Can I visit an attraction more than once?

In most cases, you can visit each attraction once per day. Some attractions are valid only once during the life of the pass. Please reference your guidebook for specific information on each attraction.

What is the age cut off for child cards?

Child cards are for children ages 3-12. Most attractions do not charge for children under 3 years old. However, there are some exceptions (especially children's museums and attractions geared toward very young travelers). If you have a child under 3 years old, please check with the attraction directly in advance. You may be charged at the gate.

Do I need to make reservations to visit the attractions?

Attractions that require a reservation will display this symbol on the guidebook page.

Some attractions require a credit card to hold a reservation. In these cases, your credit card will not be charged unless you do not show up for your reservation.

What’s the catch?

There’s no catch. Go Boston Card has a partnership with all of the participating attractions to make your visit to Boston as memorable as possible and to help you save time and money.

Can I share my pass with a friend or sell it?

No. The Go Boston Card is non-transferrable and may not be re-sold.

What happens if an attraction is closed or a tour is cancelled due to weather or other problem?

While we do our best to ensure that all attractions are available, events happen that are out of our control. The great thing about a Go Boston Card is that there are so many attractions to choose from. If an attraction is closed, or cannot be visited for some reason, we know you'll find a fun alternative in your guidebook!

What do I do if my Go Boston Card is lost or stolen?

Unfortunately, it cannot be replaced if it is lost or stolen. Please treat the card like cash.

I still have questions!

Please feel free to call us at 866‑628‑9027 and we’ll be happy to help you!

Note: A Go Boston Card is non-transferable. This means that once you start using it, you are the only person who can use it to get into attractions. Go Boston Cards may not be re-sold.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

We were very pleased with the 5 day Go Boston Card that we purchased. We recouped the cost the first 2 days we were in Boston. The only things we had to pay to enter were some churches, which we were happy to donate to. The pass was happily accepted at every location we presented it to. Wide range of attractions to visit.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

There were many items that were repetitive in nature. For example, we did the on/off trolley and the Freedom Trail on the first day. On the second day, we did the Duck Tour and much of the information was the same. On the third day we did one of the boat trips in the Harbor and again, repetitive. The other things we found was that most attractions on the pass are open from 10-5 or 9-6. So we rushed to fit as much as possible into that short time frame, and then didn't have anything to do at night. With young kids, I couldn't really enjoy night life, so it would have been nice to have things to do after 5 p.m.

Smart Destinations Response: Hello Susan, It sure sounds like you are a supermom with all the activities you were able to squeeze into your trip. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to let us know how we could improve as a company. We also agree that it would be nice to have some night time events!

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

Almost all great places to see are included which was great, no hussle, fast and money saving! I do wish the Trolley companie would be changed! First, when we got our Trolley ticket the customer service was pretty lame. At our first embacation we waited ONE hour for a Trolley and it was jammed packed!!! We were all crushed in, standing during a part of the tour! The lady giving the tour was NOT very nice either... 2 ladies were commenting on what the guide had just said and the guide commented very unpleasantly that SHE was giving a tour and that they should keep quiet! Unreal! The Trolley stops were highly irregular and we waited almost 45 minutes each time... Losing precious time to visit the city! (the green and orange Trolleys would go buy every 10 minutes on the dot!!!). The second time around the driver, who was the guide at the same time was much more interresting and fun but the first route just marked me with pessimism. NEVER AGAIN

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

The app was very easy to use on an iphone. Cashiers had no problem scanning the Go Card for admissions to all the attractions we attended. Excellent price - most attractions were at least 50% off. With this card we actually took in more attractions than we normally would. Renting the bicycles were fun and easy.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

We had the best time in Boston! I always do Go Cards when I am in a new city and bring the kids. It saves us so much money and allows us to build our own schedule to see as many things as possible. The only thing I wish was included is more ground travel choices. We loved the trolley and used that exclusively for the two days we had it. Anyways, so much fun, totally worth it, and saved us $100 or more . Also, just knowing that I can "pre-pay" for visiting different sites is so helpful and relieves the stress of budgeting for sightseeing when we are on travel.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

This is our 3rd time using a Go Card. Twice for Boston. Our family loves them! We review all options and then plan our itinerary. Since we pay for our cards in advance and have a year to activate them, it also allows us to budget our vacations. Some of the included attractions are ones that we wouldn't have done otherwise and become some of our favorite memories. My only suggestion for improvement would be to include more cities. We can't wait to use the new Las Vegas card and the Hawaii cards!

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

Our family bought a 7 day Go Boston pass to use on our recent vacation and felt like it took us everywhere we could possibly want to go and then some. The variety it offered actually got us to places we might not normally have gone that turned out to be some of our favorite destinations. Also it was really helpful that it offered entrance to attractions that were day trips from Boston - we used it to go to Plymouth, Salem, and Lexington/Concord too.

do not get for the Beantown trolley

Bottom Line:

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Boston Card:

We used the card and it was great for the attractions. I purchased the 5 day card. Went on the whale watch trip and it was amazing. Do not get it for the Beantown trolley. They should look into one of the other trolleys. this does not go to a lot of the area. They only run the trolley every 40 minutes. We had to wait over 45 minutes for a trolley to come and then they skipped stops because they were running late. I did better using the subway. The card other wise is great easy to use and recognized by all the attractions.

Smart Destinations Response: Thank you Pat, we are really happy to hear that you enjoyed your time in Boston using the pass. We are working on improving the the Trolley service. It is best not to use it as a mode of transportation to get to each attraction, but rather as an attraction in itself as a way to see the city. The public transportation, and walking, are definitely the best ways to get around. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share this information.
