Go Chicago Card
Reviews

With the Go Chicago Card, you'll get access to 28 top Chicago attractions. Plus, skip the line at top sights and save with special discounts. Just choose how many consecutive days you want go sightseeing!

Learn how it works or talk to one of our travel experts at 866-628-9031.

How it Works

  1. Pick how many calendar days of sightseeing you want. You don’t even have to choose what to do in advance, simply buy a pass for each person who will be visiting attractions and you’re free to do as you choose. Child prices apply to kids ages 3-12 years of age.

  2. Have your card shipped or pick it up at one of our redemption centers at your destination. We recommend having the card shipped if you are buying two weeks or more in advance. This gives you more time to visit attractions and saves the hassle of getting to and from a redemption center, which may not be near a desired attraction.

  3. Swipe your card and go right in to 28 attractions. Just present your card at the ticket window for admission between opening and 5:30 PM. The staff will swipe it and you’re ready to go. You can even skip the line at many top attractions.

  4. Plan ahead online, or use the free guidebook to decide where to go once you’re there. Either way, having an idea of where you want to go will help you get the most out of your pass. Make sure you read the details for each attraction to find out specific admission information and if reservations are required.

This is a must have for anyone doing sightseeing in Chicago! My girlfriend and I bought a specialized package and after everything, we ended up getting our money back and then some! What a great feeling walking past all those people waiting in line to buy tickets, and we go right in! Will definitely do this again!

Great Deal

Pros:
Fast entry, Saves Money, Lets You Do More, Saves time
Cons:
A week is too short,

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago Card:

The Go Chicago card is a great value. Overall we saved on admission costs. Plus, having the prepaid admission, we did things we might not otherwise have done. The individual admission prices add up pretty quick. With the Go Card you could enter an attraction, even if you didn't have time to see it all. If you wanted to see more you could come back the next day and entry was free again. We also had fast entry with the Go card. At Skydeck we went first thing in the morning and actually had the entire deck to ourselves for the the first few minutes. At Shedd Aquarium, the entry line was out the door, down the steps, and about fifty yards down the sidewalk. With a Go Card we go to go to "Will Call" and had two families in front of us. We kind of felt guilty passing the three or four hundred people standing in line in 96 degree heat. The only downside is that given our week in Chicago, there was not enough time to do everything on the Go Card. We started each day early, and hustled to get as much in as we could. We were also treated well by staff at each attraction.

This card is a must have!

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago Card:

We absolutely loved the Go Chicago Card! We decided to pick up our card in the city. There were several different pick-up destinations to choose from & the lady at the counter was very friendly & took the time to make sure that all our questions were answered. We used our card at the aquarium & didn't have to wait in line like everyone else. We got to do a tour of the Chicago River & a skyline tour on Lake Michigan. These were both two must see activities. The card covered 5 rides on any attraction at the Navy Pier. We were able to get into several of the museums & it was all covered by the cards! We also took advantage of the double-decker bus & trolley tours. Once you got your tickets for that, you could jump on & off the trolley or double-decker as many times as you wanted & they stopped right outside all major tourist destinations! Another benefit to the trolley tour was the fact that it's good for 2 days worth of use! This card was an incredible value!

Let us see more, Worth the money, Easy to use
Cons:
Hard to purchase in city,
Best Uses:
Cruises, Museums, Sky decks
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago Card:

Buy and receive this before you go. Was hard to have to go redeem the voucher. We got to see more than we would normally do and certainly got our money's worth. This was not as good as the Go Boston Card, however.

Must have!
By KS66212 Verified Reviewer from Kansas City on 7/3/2011
Pros:
Convenience, value
Cons:
Missing special shows, Missing water taxi Ends at 530 PM
Best Uses:
Trolly, Observation decks Museums
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago Card:

This card is GREAT for someone who does not obsess about seeing every little corner of every museum. It's an absolutely fantastic value to get a taste of almost all of Chicago's must see places. In a three day period we visited the 4 main museums, got on top of the two towers, did navy pier and hopped on and off trolly in addion to the Lego Land further west for less than $400 for a family of 4! can't beat that deal!! I wish the Water taxi was included as a quick option from downtown to navy piee and I wish the Dolphin show was included in the Shed museum tickets! Plan ahead of time.. set your time limits on each attraction and you're going to save BIG money... One of the best parts was actually skipping most lines .. we spent less than 5 minutes in line at each of the museums while others were lining up for about an hour .. At Sears tower, it was a different story as the lines to get in the door to reach the counter were crazy.. do Sears tower in teh very early morning and you should be fine.

Awesome !!

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago Card:

The absolute best thing about this card in my opinion was getting admission into the attractions without waiting in the long lines! Our first stop was at the Shedd Aquarium where there was a 2 1/2 hr wait to get in, we were in within 5 minutes! Our next stop was The Field Museum, not even sure how long the wait was, I asked a Security Guide and he told me to go through the Group Entrance.. no wait! Our last stop on our first day was the Willis (Sears) Tower, we had to wait in line to go through the metal detectors but after that we were right through. While we were waiting for the elevator to go back down to the ground floor we noticed the people who were infront of us waiting for the metal detectors were just getting to the observation deck. The quick admission was worth buying this card! I had this trip planned out perfectly, I knew where I could go with this card and when I had to be there! I truely feel we were able to do everything we planned to do with the Go Chicago Card guidebook!!

I always buy and recommend Go Cards
By Travel Bear Verified Reviewer from London, UK on 6/3/2011
Pros:
Saves time, Saves Money, Not just the usual stuff
Cons:
none,
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago Card:

If there is Go Card for the city I am visting then I always get one. Not only do they save time and money they also offer access to attractions that may not be on the usual tourist haunts. To get the best value you need to do a little planning and group attractions so you spend more time doing things than getting there. I do this at home using the website. The suggested itineraries are good too but its fun to do your own thing. The ability to skip the usual ticket line at many attractions is also helpful but sometimes the free admission can exclude things like special exhibitions but these are flagged in the attraction guide. The other discounts listed - shops and restaurents etc are also welcome too!

Great card if you plan everything out.
By Deshan & Kalisha Visiting Chicago Verified Reviewer from Tallahassee, FL on 5/20/2011
Pros:
Informative booklet, overall savings, Helps you hit top spots, Skip ticket lines
Cons:
Trolley is pointless, Needs More food discounts,
Best Uses:
Museum Park in 1 day,
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago Card:

This card is great if you DON'T have kids. You will have to complete about 3 events a day to make it really worth it (for the 3 day card) and there is simply no way to do that and allow kids to enjoy themselves. Both the Field Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry individually take a minimum of 4-6 hours for two single adults (just my wife and I) to satisfactorily complete. There are definitely savings potential, but if you rather enjoy a leisurely vacation and not be rushed or on a time schedule, then this may not be for you. Forget about the hop on/hop off Trolley and just get a 3-day CTA Bus/Train pass for $14. It's well worth it. If you have an Android app, then use HopStop. It's a time saver and gets you where you want to go when you want to get there.

Awesome choices and worth the money!
By Kathy T. Verified Reviewer from St. Louis, Missouri on 5/2/2011
Pros:
Interesting choices, Excellent Deal Savings, Lots of discounts, Skip some bigger lines
Cons:
GrayLine is a little slow,
Best Uses:
Shedd's Aquarium, Clipper Ship was awesome, Architectural tour's nice, Hop On-Off tour as cab

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago Card:

We used the Hop-On-Off as a shuttle to get us to places on the list and just planned stops according to the route. This worked most of the time and their choices included some really cool things we didn't know about, like the clipper ship and architectural tour. The Gray Line is a little slower than the other city tour buses, but I think they just have less of them, and the guides were entertaining and each one had different stories about different places so was always fresh and fun. Once you pick up the handy pocket guide with your passes, read through it thoroughly to use as much as you can of it, some really fun stuff is in there!

Go Chicago Card Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. How do I activate my card?
2. How many days should I buy?
3. What is the age cut off for child tickets?
4. Do cards expire?
5. Is there a time cut off on my card?
6. Are cards ‘days’ good for 24 hours or days of the week?
7. Do I need to make reservations with the attractions?
8. Should I have my card shipped or pick it up at my destination?
9. How do I buy online and pick up at my destination?
10. Are there places to buy cards in Chicago?
11. How long will it take to get my order?
12. I still have questions!

1. How do I activate my card?

Cards are activated upon first use and are good for the number of calendar days of activity you have purchased.

2. How many days should I buy?

We suggest counting the total number of attractions you would like to see and dividing it by how many attractions you can realistically visit each day to come up with an estimate. For example, if you want to see 6 attractions and you can reasonably get to 2 each day, then buy a 3 day pass. 6 attractions / 2 attractions per day = 3 days.

Based on customer feedback, people tend to visit fewer attractions each day than they expect. Remember to account for meals, travel and rest time, especially if traveling with kids. Remember 3,5 & 7 day cards include bonus attractions and that the Go Chicago Card is good for admission until 5:30.

3. What is the age cut off for child tickets?

Child tickets are for those 3-12 years of age. Most attractions are free for children under 3.

4. Do cards expire?

Yes, unused cards purchased this year expire on December 31 of next year. We will refund the fully cost of any unused, unexpired passes for one year from the date of purchase.

5. Is there a time cut off on my card?

The Go Chicago Card is valid for admission from the time an attraction opens in the morning through 5:30 pm. If within normal hours of operation, you do not need to leave the attraction by 5:30, just be in the door by then.

6. Are cards ‘days’ good for 24 hours or days of the week?

Days of the week. For example, if you activated your card on a Tuesday, whether you did it at 9 AM or 5 pm, Tuesday’s usage counts as one day and does not extend into Wednesday.

7. Do I need to make reservations with the attractions?

Some attractions do require reservations. Please be sure to check the attraction details in the guidebook or on our website to determine if you need to make a reservation with an attraction. Please be aware that some attractions may require a credit card number to hold a reservation.

8. Should I have my card shipped or pick it up in Chicago?

We recommend having your card shipped if your travel date is more than 2 weeks away. Having your card shipped saves the time associated with travel to a redemption location, which may not be near a desired attraction. Card ‘days’ are based on calendar days, not a 24 hour period, so shipping allows you to fit more sightseeing into your day.

9. How do I buy online and pick up in Chicago?

If you choose to pick up your card at your destination, you will be presented with a printable voucher at checkout. You will need to bring the voucher to one of our redemption locations and exchange it for your card; you can’t use the printed voucher for admission.

10. Are there places to buy cards in Chicago?

Yes. We have several Go Chicago Card sales locations. Please be aware that any sale pricing seen on the website is not available at a sales location.

11. How long will it take to get my order?

Orders placed before 3PM on regular business days will ship the same day. Orders placed after 3 PM on regular business days will ship the next business day.

Time in transit will vary based on the shipping method you choose.
