What is a Go Chicago Card?

A Go Chicago Card is a multi-attraction pass that gets you into 26 Chicago attractions for one low price.

How does a Go Chicago Card Work?
  • Just purchase passes for the number of days you want to sightsee — we offer 1, 2, 3, or 5-Day cards.
  • Your Go Chicago Card grants you admission to any of the included attractions for the number of days you bought the card for.
  • Simply present your pass at included attractions for admission. Pay nothing at the gate.
  • Visiting your first attraction activates your card. Then, use it on consecutive calendar days. ?
How will I get my pass?

Instantly! Choose between 2 options:

  • Use your pass right on your phone with the free Go City Card app.
  • Print your pass and guidebook at home.

Links and easy-to-follow instructions for both options will be in your confirmation email.

What else does the pass include?

You'll get a guide with detailed attraction descriptions, hours of operation, and a map to help plan your itinerary. Plus extra dining, shopping and entertainment discounts to help you save even more along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions Show All

What do you mean by "consecutive calendar days"?

"Consecutive calendar days" are days in a row, on a calendar. A calendar day is not a 24-hour period.

For example, if you have a 3-Day Go Chicago Card and visit your first attraction on a Monday evening, it is valid for the remainder of Monday (1st calendar day) and the two days immediately following it: Tuesday (2nd calendar day), and Wednesday (3rd calendar day).

Tip: to get the most out of your pass, plan to visit attractions early in the day.

Is this just a discount card? Will I still need to buy tickets?

No. Passes include admission to each attraction; no need to pay anything at the gate. Some attractions may offer upgrades or special exhibits for an additional fee.

Do I need to choose my attractions in advance?

Nope, you can choose from the included attractions as you go.

What is the age cut off for child cards?

Child cards are for children ages 3-12. Most attractions do not charge for children under 3 years old. However, there are some exceptions (especially children's museums and attractions geared toward very young travelers). If you have a child under 3 years old, please check with the attraction directly in advance. You may be charged at the gate.

How will I get my pass?

Instantly! Choose between 2 options:

  • Use your pass right on your phone with the free Go City Card app.
  • Print your pass and guidebook at home.

Links and easy-to-follow instructions for both options will be in your confirmation email.

How do I "activate" my card?

Simply visit your first attraction!

Is my card valid all day?

Yes. You can enter attractions any time with the Go Chicago Card.

What is your refund policy?

You'll have a full year from the day you purchase your passes to receive a full refund, as long as they are unused. However, the passes are non-refundable once they're activated.

How many days should I buy?

Most travelers visit between 2 and 3 attractions each day depending on individual preference. Our most popular card is the 3-Day card.

Can I purchase passes on the spur of the moment when I arrive in Chicago?

Of course! With instant digital delivery, you can purchase and access passes right on your mobile device.

Does a Go Chicago Card expire?

Yes. You have one year from the date of purchase to begin using your pass. After one year, it will expire.

How much will I save?

Compare the price of the pass to the gate prices of the attractions you want to visit to see how much you can save. Or, check out some real savings examples from Go City Card customers to see how much they actually saved!

We give you the flexibility to create your own itinerary and choose the attractions you want to visit depending on your interests.

For inspiration, check out some of our sample itineraries, insider tips, and more for info on all the fun things to do in Chicago so you can make the most of your time here.

How many attractions can I visit in one day?

On a Go Chicago Card, you can visit as many attractions as you want in a day.

Can I visit an attraction more than once?

In most cases, you can visit each attraction once per day. Some attractions are valid only once during the life of the pass. Please reference your guidebook for specific information on each attraction.

Do I need to make reservations to visit the attractions?

Attractions that require a reservation will display this symbol on the guidebook page.

Some attractions require a credit card to hold a reservation. In these cases, your credit card will not be charged unless you do not show up for your reservation.

What’s the catch?

There’s no catch. Go Chicago Card has a partnership with all of the participating attractions to make your visit to Chicago as memorable as possible and to help you save time and money.

Can I share my pass with a friend or sell it?

No. The Go Chicago Card is non-transferrable and may not be re-sold.

What happens if an attraction is closed or a tour is cancelled due to weather or other problem?

While we do our best to ensure that all attractions are available, events happen that are out of our control. The great thing about a Go Chicago Card is that there are so many attractions to choose from. If an attraction is closed, or cannot be visited for some reason, we know you'll find a fun alternative in your guidebook!

I still have questions!

Please feel free to call us at 800‑887‑9103 and we’ll be happy to help you!

Note: A Go Chicago Card is non-transferable. This means that once you start using it, you are the only person who can use it to get into attractions. Go Chicago Cards may not be re-sold.

Good cost effective tool for actively exploring the city

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

We went to many destinations, including several we only visited because they were included on the GoCard. Those unintended destinations ended up being some of the best hidden gems - ex. the architectural boat tour - during our trip. The time saved skipping several long lines was well worth the cost of the card. The fact admission was included too, was the bonus.

Family of 6 and we had a blast. We were on the move for 2 days and saw everything we had on our list. Went to 360 and Willis tower at night close to close so no lines. Did the architecture cruise one day and Tall ship WIndy the next. This pass saved us tons.

Not worth the money
By Amy from Mountain Home, AR on
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

By buying the go card, we ended up spending double what we would have if we just bought tickets at each attraction. Be realistic with the time it takes to visit each attraction (2 per day max) and calculate the cost before you decide to purchase the go card.

Smart Destinations Response: Hi Amy, We are really sorry to hear this. It sounds like the Build Your Own Pass would have been a better option here. There are 3 different pass options in Chicago to fit different traveling styles. The All-Inclusive Pass is meant for those who want to visit a lot of attractions, while the Build Your Own Pass allows you to save a guaranteed amount on the specific attractions you choose. This is great advice, though, and we thank you for your feedback.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

At times it was confusing where I needed to go to use the app to purchase boarding passes. At places like the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium the card was very convenient.

Just OK. Don't Recommend
By Hondo from Columbus, Ohio on
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

It was great to be able to skip the ticket window and go to shorter lines with Chicago Go Card. Using the card was cheaper than window price. However, it has several shortcomings. You don't know restrictions and special conditions until AFTER you buy the card on line. For example there were 3 boat rides but you find you can only use one per day, so in effect you are only getting one boat ride if you buy a one day card. The worst was finding after I'd paid for the card was that for the Big Bus you had to get your ticket at the hard Rock cafe and could not buy on bus even though they had a guy on board selling tickets. What's worse is they didn't offer to let you ride the bus to HRC to redeem your card for ticket. We had to walk 30 minutes from Navy Pier to HRC to get our ticket. Bad customer service. Poor set up. Deceptive in not letting you know until after purchase

Goes by calendar days NOT hours
By Harley quinn from Long island ny on
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Chicago® Card All-Inclusive Pass:

Its a great card. Perfect to see all the main tourist attractions. BUT be aware, it goes by calendar days NOT by hours after u first activate. So if u activate at 9 pm thats a whole first day youve used up- that happened to me. Its not mentioned anywhere on the app. Customer service eventually made things right.
