Adler Planetarium
Skip the Line!

The Adler invites you to explore outer space without leaving Chicago. Follow astronauts into orbit and experience the beauty of starry night skies. Learn about current NASA missions, discover the Milky Way, and investigate what lies beyond in our nine exhibitions and multiple theaters.

Don’t miss Planet Explorers, the Adler’s newest permanent exhibition designed for families with young children. Children take the helm in a space adventure—piloting a rocket, living in space on a “shuttle”, and exploring the environment of Planet X. The whole family will enjoy hands-on activities and more, FREE with your GoChicago Card!

In Shoot for the Moon, follow in the footsteps of astronaut Captain James A. Lovell, Jr. as he experimented with liquid-fuel rockets and participated in NASA’s space race. Get up close to the Gemini 12 spacecraft (pictured above), which spent fourteen days in orbit around the Earth. Stop by the Moon Wall to view NASA’s most recent, high-resolution images of the Apollo moon-landing sites.

Comments about Smart Destinations Adler Planetarium:

We were offered a choice of several of the day's shows to view, and they offer a wide range of options. We could easily have spent more than just one day here -- there was that much to see and do.

Comments about Smart Destinations Adler Planetarium:

I was pleasantly surprised and how great the children's area was here - and not at all crowded. Almost had the place all to ourselves. Everyone had a good time from our 3 year old to our 8 year old. Spent so much time in the kid's area, actually never saw the rest of the place
