Description

No trip to Chicago is complete without a visit to the world-renowned Art Institute. With beautifully renovated galleries throughout the museum, one of Chicago's oldest museums is now the newest! Treasured Impressionist masterpieces by artists such as Monet, Renoir, and Seurat; American icons like Grant Wood's American Gothic; the Alsdorf Galleries of Indian and Southeast Asian Art; and captivating paintings by Rembrandt and the Old Masters now shine in their full glory in sparkling new presentations.

With the May 16, 2009 opening of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano's spectacular Modern Wing, the Art Institute takes it place as the nation's second-largest art museum. This new building presents the outstanding collections of modern and contemporary art, architecture and design, and photography, plus a state-of-the-art education center to delight visitors of all ages.

Monday-Friday, 10:30 am-5:00 pm, Thursday until 8:00 pm;
Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am-5:00 pm. Please check the website for special extended seasonal hours.

Public Transportation:

Take CTA: Brown, Orange, Purple, Pink, and Green lines to Adams St./Wabash Ave. stop. Red and blue lines to Monroe Street. Metra to Van Buren/Jackson and Buses #3, 4, 6, 7, 14, 126, 145, 147, and 151 to the museum.

Redemption Instructions:

Included daytime general admission with the Go Chicago Card: until 5:00 pm. During all other times standard admission will apply. Please note the museum is free from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursdays.

The Go City Card is accepted until 5:30pm unless otherwise noted; during all other times standard admission will apply.
