Classic Lake Tour brings you the splendor of Chicago’s panorama, and so much more, in a memorable thirty to forty-five minute maritime excursion on the waters of Lake Michigan. You’ll see the Windy City’s world-famous landmarks, including the Lighthouse and Willis (Sears) Tower, and you will be guided by a professionally-recorded narration that takes you through the ins and outs of Chicago’s history, highlighting the tour’s major landmarks.

Classic Lake Tours, which depart from Chicago’s action-packed Navy Pier— a massive complex that has been voted Chicago’s #1 attraction— offer you the perfect chance to get out on the water and see it all from the comfort and safety of the company’s reputable vessels. What will you see on your cruise?

  • The Hancock Building: this skyscraper boasts the world’s fastest elevator, and has an amazing 360-degree observation dec.
  • Chicago Lighthouse: once a beacon for locals and pirates alike.
  • Willis (Sears) Tower: at 110 meters high, this famous tower is the tallest in the Western hemisphere and the fifth largest in the world.
  • Museum Campus: home of the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and Adler Planetarium.

All of the sights you see on this cruise are likely to be prominent stops on your Chicago itinerary, pre- or post-cruise, so look at this tour as a great chance to get your bearings and as you preview the great city of Chicago.

This city is the world’s hub of architecture, and a Classic Lake Tour gives you a variety of cruise options designed to suit your skyline- sightseeing preference, including an early departure that would suit anyone interested in capturing Chicago at sunrise, as well as late-night excursions that provide the romance of the city with all its lights aglow and twinkling on the horizon!

You can also opt for a seasonal (summer and early autumn) forty-five minute Sunset Cruise aboard one of these red, white, and blue vessels. Whatever your preference, Shoreline Sightseeing has something for you!

This was an excellent tour. Probably because we had a great tour guide. I would highly recommend that you do this first as it's a great overview of the city and its history.

All you're paying for is to be on the boat and listen to a tape. The only thing that makes this tour worth it is the view.

Comments about Smart Destinations Lake Cruise by Shoreline:

If you do not do any of the other tours then I am sure you would give this 5 stars but as this was the last tour we did it did not have the 'umph' that the other ones did as we had been spoilt!! It is still a great thing to do as the view from the sea looking back at Chicago is fantastic.
