Each exhibit at the Chicago Childrens Museum provides kids with a different learning experience. The Allstate Foundation's Play It Safe exhibit offers kids the chance to explore a realistic firehouse. More importantly it teaches children many important lessons about fire safety through play.
From the firehouse, you can visit the Sahara desert with the Dinosaur Expedition and explore the excavation pit where the fossils of Suchomimus, a giant fish-eating dinosaur, were discovered in 1997.
Kids on the Fly is the perfect exhibit for all the pilots of the future. Children can fly a plane, man a helicopter, or even become an air traffic controller!
Once you have exhausted yourself, you can cool off at the WaterWays exhibit. This fascinating exhibit allows children to understand and control the multi-functional power of water. Using an array of tools, children can navigate a boat down the mighty WaterWays river.

Comments about Smart Destinations Chicago Children's Museum:
We live in the burbs outside Chicago, and our kids love coming here. Our oldest (10) always thinks he is too old, but then gets here and has a fabulous time. This place is all about kids DOING stuff, jumping, playing, building, making art. Bring extra clothes if they like to play in the fun waterway area - our kids always get soaked! My five year old naps in the car on the way home, every time.

Comments about Smart Destinations Chicago Children's Museum:
This attraction is best for kids 10 & under (and that may be pushing it). My son was 9 and had a good time there but there were quite a few exhibits that were on the juvenile side so he didn't participate in them. He really enjoyed the water world area and the structure construction area. It was nice to visit a place where kids can touch things and not worry about damaging anything.
