Website Design and User Experience Manager

Type: Full Time

Job Summary

Smart Destinations is looking for a talented and motivated full-time Website Design and User Experience Manager. Targeting leisure travelers, Smart Destinations' Go City Cards and Explorer Passes aggregate the best things to do in 14 destinations and put them on a single, smart card-based ticket. The ticket saves the holder time and money doing both the "must see" and the hidden gems from Boston to San Diego and Miami to Maui. Whether its visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art or taking a surf lesson on Waikiki Beach, over 425 top museums, tours, sights, and activities use Smart Destinations ticketing platform and accept the Go City Card and Explorer Pass for admission.

The Smart Destinations web site is a key selling channel for the company, making the Website Design and Experience Manager a critically important role. Strong visual design skills, focus on details and quality, understanding of usability best practices, and experience with current front-end technologies are a must. This person will play an active role in creating a world class user experience for SmartDestinations.com and our e-mail program as we continue to grow our business. As such they must be a creative and energetic member of a cross-functional team that spans technology and marketing

Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Development to concept and design innovative, usable, technically feasible, user interfaces for the site and various interactive projects.
  • Translate business requirements into innovative user interaction designs.
  • Lead the front end design of screen comps, e-mails, new creative elements, landing pages, etc.
  • Be able to deliver for a range of design needs including icons, splash pages, navigation components, skins, feature stories, animations, marketing materials and microsites.
  • Champion brand and design standards across all projects.
  • Design mock-ups for user testing and design solutions based on user feedback.
  • Analyze and evaluate current front-end design/usability challenges and implement effective design solutions as part of the broader Web and Marketing team.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years web design experience in a company or agency setting, ideally with predominate B2C work.
  • Strong sense of creating designs that convert.
  • Proven track record for translating business requirements into highly usable and innovative designs for web sites and web-based applications.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including product development, marketing, and engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative in creating a best-in-class user experience.
  • Must be creative, thoughtful and be able to express ideas in an articulate, concise manner.
  • Adobe Photo Shop, Image Ready, Illustrator, Visio.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS, Client-side Javascript a plus.
  • Familiarity with Jquery , prototype, or similar modern JS library also a plus.
  • Flash experience a plus.

Junior Web Developer

Smart Destinations Inc. is looking to fill a newly created role within our growing software development group. You will be working on the next generation of a new product that represents a large market opportunity for the Company. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing group within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for multi-platform public facing websites using the following technologies: Java, Spring, EJB3 (Open JPA), Velocity, Ant, BIRT, Eclipse Linux and MySQL
  • Responsible for development on all tiers of the application from the Java based e-commerce manager through web services.
  • Design and specification work includes reviewing functional specifications and developing technical design specs and or prototypes.
  • Programming, including bug fixes, new feature design, and development of future products.
  • Maintain existing code and provide bug fixes and improvements where necessary.
  • Work with front end developers to set appropriate time lines and technological expectations.
  • QA, which includes testing of your code and the code of others. Bug tracking and maintenance.
  • Provide daily or weekly status update on projects.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science with 4-7+ years of experience programming: 4+ years Java 2+ years of Linux experience is a plus.
  • Some scripting experience in PHP or Perl is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of Object Oriented design and core patterns (MVC, DAO, IoC). SQL and database design.

Sales Program Coordinator

Type: Full Time

Job Summary

Smart Destinations Inc. is looking to fill a newly created Sales Program Coordinator role within our organization. You will report directly to our Director of Channel Sales, and will be responsible for helping to manage and grow existing accounts by developing and implementing promotional programs with key partners. This is truly an exciting opportunity as you’ll get to work with well known reseller's of our products like Expedia, Orbitz and Marriott.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Partner communications and marketing through e-marketing initiatives
  • Develop Partner communications and marketing through e-marketing initiatives
  • Identify and create promotional opportunities to be presented to key partners
  • Reactivate stale accounts
  • Field some in-bound sales/support calls from a select group of partners. Will need to understand the product offerings and effectively communicate them to prospective clients
  • May be required thru phone conversations to work with select current and prospective partners/customers to ensure our products are properly positioned and priced
  • Update SalesForce.com (CRM) on a weekly basis with pricing/contracts
  • Maintain internal database of prospects and customers
  • Distribute monthly pipeline report to key personnel

Qualifications

  • BS/BA
  • 2-3 years of sales experience
  • Superior organizational skills, high attention to detail, and superior time management
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately
  • Ability to quickly grasp product and company knowledge
  • Strong computer skills (Proficiency in Web and Excel is required) web-ex or similar is desired
  • Person who is good with people, wants exposure to B2B relationship management and sales is required
  • Excellent communications skills
