Description

The Hammer Museum explores the capacity of art to enhance the full range of human experience. Through its permanent collections, temporary exhibitions, and engaging public programs, the Hammer Museum is committed to promoting cross-cultural understanding, introducing the work of underrepresented artists, and interpreting history through contemporary art. Hammer exhibitions present work in all visual arts media, including architecture and design. As a cultural center affiliated with a major research university, the Hammer Museum advances UCLA's mission by contributing to the intellectual life of the campus and community at large hosting gallery talks, artists' lectures, literary readings, scholarly symposia, and concerts.

The museum is located at the northeast corner of Westwood and Wilshire Boulevards in Westwood Village or three blocks east of the 405 freeway's Wilshire Boulevard exit.
