What's more exciting: stepping into those star-studded shoes on the Walk of Fame, or stepping into the hotel allegedly haunted by Marilyn Monroe? This Tinseltown tour gives you the full treatment, from famous theaters to a storied history.

Red Line Tours brings you its most famous tour of Hollywood, taking you “behind the scenes” of the city to show you all the hotspots up-close, and letting you listen to your tour guide at a volume of your choosing over even the most distracting urban noise thanks to a “live audio system” of headsets. The Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes Walking Tour is a great option for anyone who is into history and architecture, as well as the more obvious cinematic appeal of the city.

Red Line Tours boasts that this is not only the most authentic tour of Hollywood, but also the only company-operated walking tour of Hollywood- so don’t miss it! Remember to make a reservation in advance, particularly in the busy summer months.

Here’s a sampling of the sights you’ll see on your Behind-the-Scenes Walking Tour:

Grauman’s Chinese Theatre: Open since 1927, this legendary Asian-inspired venue has been a cornerstone of Hollywood for over 75 years

Dolby Theatre: The crown jewel of Hollywood, this complex is the home of the annual Academy Awards, and seats a staggering 3,401 people.

Walk of Fame: See the stars….or at least the star shapes on a sidewalk where the prints of various celebrity body parts have been forever memorialized in stone.

Hollywood Sign: Learn the story behind the world-famous landmark up close and in person with Red Line Tours!

El Capitan Theatre: A fully-restored movie palace that opened in 1926 and is operated by the Walt Disney Company, and once saw the likes of Clark Gable and Joan Fontaine performing live productions on its stage.

Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre: Open since 1922, this grand motion picture theatre was inspired by an Egyptian craze that swept the nation after the discovery of King Tutankhamen’s tomb the same year.

Roosevelt Hotel: A unique structure built in the historic Spanish-Style and named after Theodore Roosevelt that first opened in 1927. The hotel has been featured in multiple films, and was the site of the presentation of the 1st Academy Awards in 1929 in its Blossom Ballroom. The hotel is allegedly haunted by its former patron, Marilyn Monroe.

Red Line Tours’ Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes Walking Tour operates seven days a week and is a great way to see the sights of the city up-close and with the added bonus of your own red-shirt clad tour guide on hand to answer your questions. Obviously, don’t forget your comfortable walking shoes and sunglasses!

Awesome Hollywood stories telling tour

Comments about Smart Destinations Red Line Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes Tour:

Highly recommend if you like stories about Hollywood history and Hollywood stars. Our guide Micheal is a terrific narrator, he has probably told the stories hundreds of times, but he still kept us captivated. It's a 75 minutes walking tour, but it's only 15 minutes' walk and listening stories for the rest of the time. Yes there are Hollywood historic information, anecdotes about stars, stories about Hollywood boulevard theatres, but the narrator makes it as a whole "ensemble". My girlfriend and I had a great time. It's probably the tour that I learned the most compared to other tours in the area. It's a great tour for LA GO card!

Comments about Smart Destinations Red Line Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes Tour:

Not really a "Behind-the-Scenes tour since most of it takes place in public places. However still well worth the time and due to some awesome pictures the guide shares along the way a lot of fun. The guide was indeed very well informed and could answer just about any question. A great option to orient yourself quickly to the area. Our cards were easily scanned and no hassle.

Comments about Smart Destinations Red Line Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes Tour:

My friend and I have literally just returned from the 10am Red Line Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes tour as I write this. It was awesome! Our guide was great and able to answer all the questions we fired at him about the Oscars and the theaters. The tour is a great concise introduction to the history and current status of the landmarks. We covered the Egyptian Theatre, Chinese Theatre, Kodak Theatre, Hollywood Sign (viewed from the Hollywood and Highland Centre), Roosevelt Hotel, El Capitan and the Walk of Fame . Highly recommended!
