Driving Directions

Parking is across from main entrance at the corner of Melrose & Windsor. Parking fee is $5.

On your tour you will see numerous backlots and scenic areas, walking down streets designed to look like those of New York City and Chicago, complete with authentic design features and fire escapes. The New York City backlot, for example, has been very carefully created on a 5-acre site and recreates eight distinct areas of the city: Brooklyn, Brownstone, Financial District, Greenwich Village, Lower East Side, SoHo, Upper East Side, and Washington Square.

You’ll check out other architectural structures, grassy parks and facades that make up the backdrops for many of the movies you’ve loved over the years—the scenery is so authentic, you might have even believed they were filmed outside the gates of the studios. You’ll feel like part of the magic with the Hollywood sign looming in the background, just in case all the celebrities around you aren’t enough of a reminder that you’re in the city of the stars! Some will have the opportunity to walk into a soundstage (no photography allowed), see crew members building sets, and check out the staff and extras enjoying their meals at the cafeteria and eateries around the studio!

Reviews show that each tour is indeed different, and tour guides will take the time to learn about your individual interests, pointing out the sights and scenes that are of most interest to you. While you shouldn’t expect a celebrity encounter, per se, there is a strong possibility that you will see someone you recognize from the big screen milling about….after all, this is their workplace!

Comments about Smart Destinations Paramount Pictures Studio Tour:

You need to arrive 30 mins before the start of the tour to go through the security gate and then obtain your ticket with the card. There are quite a number of carts in use at the same time (so not just one tour at a time). You are NOT allowed to videotape at any point of the tour, but are free to use cameras to take photo's of areas that are not being used by film companies. You are also not allowed to photograph production people/items in use on the lot or of the film stars you may come across or anything inside the soundstages (only outside areas). The tour guides were extremely friendly and kept asking if we ahd any questions. They were very knowledgeable and explained alot of production stuff as we went around. We were able to tough the bronson gates (the gates contained within the Paramount arch as seen on their motife. The guides will take a group photo of you in front of these gates and of you sitting on one of the benches used in the film "Forrest Gump". Overall it was awe inspiring and well worth a visit as we got to see a couple of film stars too (no photo's though)
