Description
Discover the fascinating past and dynamic present of South Florida and the Caribbean at the Historical Museum of Southern Florida. Explore 10,000 years of history as you wander through the museum's permanent exhibition, Tropical Dreams: A People's History of South Florida. Visit a re-creation of the National Historic Landmark, Miami Circle and view artifacts from this 2,000 year-old settlement. Walk through the homes of Seminole Indians and settlers in South Florida and climb aboard an actual 1920s trolley. The museum also offers two changing temporary exhibitions on South Florida and Caribbean history. Visitors are welcome to view historic images at the museum’s Research Center which houses over one million photographs, as well as drawings and documents. Visiting for the weekend, join us for a historic tour led by historian, Dr. Paul George. Weekend historic tours of South Florida is a unique way of sightseeing and learning about South Florida, whether on boats, bicycles, coaches, or on two feet.

Driving:
I-95 N: Exit onto NW 2nd St (Exit 2B). Turn right onto NW 2nd St and then right onto NW 2nd Ave for one block. I-95 S: Exit at NW 8th St (Exit 3B Port of Miami). Turn left onto NW 2nd St and then right onto NW 2nd Ave for one block. Metrorail: Exit at Government Center Station, walk south across NW 1st St to Miami-Dade Cultural Center. Parking is available at the Miami-Dade Cultural Center Parking Garage, 50 NW 2nd Ave. Take the second level skywalk from the south elevator directly to the museum. $5 with museum validation.
