Comments about Smart Destinations :

My husband had just died in 2006 with a heart attack while we lived in Japan. Our son, at the time, 14 was still heartbroken after moving back to the States. My sister and I took him to Florida and there we found Sawgrass Everglades Park. Wow...we were in for such a surprise! It was slow at lunchtime and it was just the 3 of us so Captain Charlie took us out on his small airboat and showed us the time of our lives. There's a photo of my son and I on their website laughing hard. You can see in my son's face the wonderful expression of complete enjoyment by being there. Then as we rode, he saw the eyes of alligators peering through the water. Having my always faithful camera and zoom lens, I proceeded to photograph some wonderful photos which still reside on their website. Thank you Captain Charlie for that awesome boat ride and educational tour! After the boat ride, we proceeded to see the baby alligators and learned how these little creatures could bite off your finger. The owner's son so gracefully wrapped the baby alligator's mouth with tape before handing him over to my son to hold. James, my son, loved experiencing this firsthand. We then went to their wildlife park which are animals rescued in the wild. James got to feed a tiger cub with a bottle and then was escorted to sit by and pet a tiger that was a few months old. We had the wonderful opportunity to meet the owner before leaving thanking him for such a wonderful time! This is not only a park but a family owned park that makes the atmosphere one of warmth and just plain fun! You have to go if you ever have the chance or if you're ever in that area...just take the time and go. You WON'T regret it!!

Great experience. "Captain Tim" did a great job finding us a gator and showing us the everglades. Only a half hour ride, but since we had kids with us it was long enough. Some of the animal exhibits were small and unimpressive, but the animals looked healthy and well taken care of.
