The Brooklyn Bridge, Yankee Stadium, the Empire State Building, Wall Street, and the South Street Seaport. These are just some of the major NYC attractions you’ll see on your 3-hour Manhattan cruise! Enjoy a morning or afternoon of leisurely sightseeing aboard Circle Line and get a better appreciation for the fascinating island that is Manhattan.

The Best of NYC Cruise takes you around the island of Manhattan on an unforgettable journey that will not only bring you past the major attractions of the City by water, but also will set the stage for the rest of your trip and give you a better feel for what you want to see up-close! First-timers to “The Big Apple” will enjoy this comprehensive trip just as much as those who frequent the city—who doesn’t enjoy a good cruise?

This cruise is fully-narrated (live), and passengers can enjoy snacks and beverages for purchase on board. This cruise is available year-round, and no advance seat reservations are required. What will you see on the Circle Line 3-hour Full Island Cruise?

Empire State Building: 102 floors of pure Americana! This Manhattan icon remained a beacon of patriotism following the collapse of the World Trade Center towers in 2001. The Empire State Building is instantly-recognizable by its characteristic Art Deco architecture, and is very visible on the skyline from the waters around Manhattan.

Chrysler Building: Another Art Deco landmark that sits prestigiously at the crossroads of 42nd and Lexington. This building’s history shows something of a rivalry in the “race to the top” in the early days of skyscrapers. The Chrysler Building held the record as tallest building for nearly a year before the construction of the Empire State Building was completed.

Ellis Island: This gateway to the United States shuffled millions of immigrants through its bureaucratic documentation center between 1892 and 1954. But did you know that after 1924, when the initial swells of seafaring immigrants had died down, Ellis Island became, in an ironic reversal, primarily a deportation and detention processing station?

Statue of Liberty: It needs no introduction, but did you know that this most iconic of American landmarks was painstakingly constructed, piece by piece, in France, and shipped across the Atlantic? The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, by President Grover Cleveland, former New York Governor, and then-president. It is estimated that nearly a million spectators watched the ceremony.

Wall Street: The symbolic home of American capitalism, and probably among the most politically and morally divisive street in the world! Whatever your take on the bigwigs of Wall Street, you can’t deny its historical impact in shaping the country’s finances, and we think that makes it worth a visit.

Yankee Stadium: Home to the world’s most famous baseball team, and the place to go to get the taste of American sports culture and old-world “New Yorkicisms”.

Brooklyn Bridge: This stunning feat of structural engineering is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, and connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn over the East River.

Comments about Smart Destinations Best of NYC Cruise by Circle Line:

In answer to previous post - the complete Circle Line Cruise is quite popular. You need to arrive early for best seats and tickets. This past August we came to the ticket booth the day before to redeem our pass for tickets the next day to insure we would have a spot - yes, they can be that busy! We have taken this cruise 3 times and still have not tired of it. The outside speakers were not operating last August 2013 - very annoying - many foreign tourists had no idea what they were looking at due to lack of speakers.....still - very enjoyable. The only way I know of circling Manhattan and having someone knowledgeable point out all the land marks and bits and pieces of history. If sun is an issue - be sure to arrive early for best seat selection in a sheltered area - though be warned this will greatly impede your visibility on the opposite side of the boat. Hats, visors and sunglasses are strongly recommended. Umbrellas not permitted due to blocking others view. There are costly nibbles (several dollars for a very very dried up pretzel, many more for a cup of get the picture. Be sure to eat BEFORE boarding. The few food stands that are near the docks likewise fleece the flocks of hungry and thirsty knowing they have people over a have been warned.... I appreciated the fact that the crew did not shake the passengers down quite so shamefully as they did in the past for tips this past August 2013. In the past several passengers felt bullied into tipping since they had to run the gauntlet and pass the captain and crew standing expectantly staring passengers down very hard. The behavior was so outrageous I decided not to tip on principal....I do digress. We highly recommend the full 3 hour Circle Line Cruise as a must for anyone wanting to see New York City from every shoreline. Do your homework online, etc. You can always find a way to use this on a pass card or coupon offers. Though I will say this is once of the very few attractions that is worth paying full price for.
