Empire State Building tickets

Gate Prices Adult $32.00
Child (3-12) $26.00

Visit the Empire State Building, one of the most recognizable and iconic landmarks in the world. Miraculously erected during The Great Depression, the building itself serves as a symbol of hope, perseverance, and prosperity for many who travel to NYC to see it.

The only thing more spectacular than looking up at the Empire State Building from the streets of New York City is heading up to its 86th floor at 1,050-feet above ground and stepping out into the observation area to look out at 360-degrees of "the greatest city in the world" — a must do for any first timer in NYC.

Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, the Empire State Building Experience is so much more than just a view. Embark on a journey through one of the most famous landmarks in the world, where you will experience a newly restored Art Deco lobby and murals, the historical Dare to Dream exhibit, and Sustainability Exhibit. Your visit will conclude at the most iconic 360-degree open-air observation deck in all of NYC – The Empire State Building’s 86th Floor Observatory Deck. Feel the heart of NYC!

Highlights:

  • Take in the whole Empire State Building Experience, including the newly renovated art-deco lobby, the sustainability and historical exhibits, and a free self-guided multimedia tour.
  • Look out on New York City from 1,050 feet above the bustling streets below.
  • See panoramic views of up to five states from the surrounding open-air promenade or from the climate controlled viewing galleries.
  • Get details about what you’re viewing from every vantage point with the free self-guided multimedia tour.

Tips for Visitors:

  • Observatory is open until 2:00 am every night for spectacular skyline and nighttime views.
  • Enjoy live music on most Thursday - Saturday evenings after 9:00 pm.
  • Whether its breakfast, lunch, or dinner, State Grill and Bar is located in the lobby to cater to your dining needs.
  • To plan your visit, you are welcome to check the Time to the Top* at www.empirestatebuilding.com or by calling (877) NYC-VIEW (692-8439).
*Average general admission ticket travel time from clearing security, through our two exhibits, to the 86th floor Observation Deck. Updated every 2 minutes.
  • Best time to visit: Beat the crowds. For more space and less wait, visit between 8:00 am and 11:00 am or after 10:00 pm.
  • Accessibility: The Empire State Building is fully ADA compliant. Handicapped restrooms are located on the 86th Floor Observatory. Service dogs are allowed throughout the building. Motorized and non-motorized wheelchairs are permitted. The 86th Floor has ramps to make getting around easier and lowered viewing walls so that visitors in chairs can still take in the view.

  • Express Pass: Purchase from an official Empire State Building employee at the onsite ticket office on the day of arrival to move to the front of each line. Iconic must-see

Comments about Smart Destinations Empire State Building:

The Empire State building is an icon in New York and therefore a must-see. The observation deck on the 86th floor offers a stunning view over Manhattan. But it comes with a price: do go late at night or very early in the morning, because else you will have to wait for a tremendously long time. And then you are better of at the Top of the Rock, which is slightly less known.

Good view but not to the 81st floor!

Comments about Smart Destinations Empire State Building:

The Empire State Building is one of the most iconic buildings in NYC so definitely go if you are in the city! The queue moved quickly but the ticket only takes you to the first observation point not right to the top. Great views though. Make sure you check the weather forecast in advance as a nice sunny day makes all the difference!

Comments about Smart Destinations Empire State Building:

We found this to be helpful. We went through security and proceeded as though we already had tickets (which we thought we did.) However, we were asked to go to the ticket line to get the ticket. We didn't have to wait and were escorted to the front of the line. From there, it was easy. I would recommend this, especially if you are combining it with another attraction and getting a discount. If you aren't combining it, it's just as easy to get it through the ESB website!

FYI

Comments about Smart Destinations Empire State Building:

We just got back from NYC. We purchased the Go Select pass with the attractions we wanted to go to. The Empire Statue building was one of them. While it did save us a bit of money combining it with the other attractions, the staff at the Empire State Building gave us quite a hard time with this pass. We were stopped at the gate where they scan the tickets and were told we had to exchange our voucher at the ticket booth (even though it clearly says on the voucher we don't have to wait in the ticket line). Once at the ticket booth we were told they can't scan it there, and to go to the gate where they scan the tickets. Once we got back there we had to walk around with an employee to find their manager because they had never seen this pass before. Once we found the manager he told them its a "new" pass and it should work with the scanner. It did, and we finally got in, but since we were there quite early and there was no line ups, it would have been less of a hassel to just buy a ticket there. My advice, is to tell them right off the bat that it is a "new" pass and to just try and scan it.

Comments about Smart Destinations Empire State Building:

Everyone needs to do the Empire State Building, right? The ticket line is pretty long though during busy times so maybe good to check ahead to see when lines aren't as long. Once you get up there though, you really can see the entire city. It's an amazing feeling being at the top!

Comments about Smart Destinations Empire State Building:

So we went to check out the Empire State Building, because well, it's THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING! Tried on a friday afternoon and the lines were overwhelming. It's open til 2 am, so we decided to come back later. Ended up nearby for dinner and decided to try again at 10am. SUCCESS! Was worth it. The city lights were amazing and we stayed for an hour. There was a pretty decent Sax player there to entertain. Well worth it. Do yourself a favor and go early or late to beat the lines!
