Nicknamed "Showplace of the Nation," this lavish entertainment venue hosts some of world's most famous events, including the Grammys and MTV Music Awards. You'll be granted a behind-the-scenes look at it all, and will even meet a real-life Rockette!

Radio City Music Hall, affectionately known as “the showplace of the nation”, has hosted many of the world’s most high-profile performances over the last century, and is an iconic part of American pop culture. A visit to this establishment pays tribute to the legends that have appeared on its stage and to the musical history of America.

Home of the legendary Rockettes and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Radio City Music Hall is New York’s premier entertainment and concert venue, located at New York’s Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan. During any given week, its stage might be graced with the presence of current A-listers as Bon Jovi, Steve Harvey, and Janet Jackson. Experience the behind-the-scenes magic on a one-hour walking Stage Door Tour of the music hall. Explore the venue’s extravagant art deco interior that give it that classic, instantly-recognizable New York appeal. View the Celebrity Guestbook, and see the signatures of all the greats who have come through Radio City Music Hall’s doors, all before learning about the secrets of The Great Stage!

Perhaps the most appealing part of the tour is the opportunity to actually meet a Radio City Rockette! The Rockettes are world-class troupe of precision dancers, who, since 1932 have performed at the annual Radio City Christmas Spectacular, as well as in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. During the Christmas season, the girls dance five shows a day for seven days a week. This tradition has continued for over 77 years, and most of the dance moves have remained unchanged. All Rockettes are between 5’6” and 5’10” tall, lending to their reputation as a league of long-legged beauties. Not only will you meet a Rockette on your tour of Radio City Music Hall, but you’ll also have the option to stand in their famous kick line and pose for a photo—a new feature of the Stage Door Tour.

Radio City Music Hall is currently leased to and managed by Madison Square Garden, Inc., which also operates the famous arena of the same name. Be sure to check out both on your next visit to New York City! Radio City Music Hall is a classic part of Americana that you and your family are sure to remember and talk about for years to come, especially when watching the Macy’s Parade or the Radio City Christmas Spectacular on TV!

Comments about Smart Destinations Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour:

I went to this attraction at the behest of my friend and to be honest, was not all that interested in taking the tour. What a nice surprise! I had never been to Radio City Music Hall and was blown away by what a beautiful, historic place it is. Our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable and the views of the music hall were breathtaking. We went everywhere... the lobbies, the back of the theatre, the front, and even ON STAGE! We also were able to meet and take pictures with a Rockette. You will have a new appreciation for this beautiful NYC landmark... it's a can't miss attraction!

Beautiful...but the tour needs more meat

Comments about Smart Destinations Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour:

The hall is beautiful. And the tour takes you on stage to see what it's like to perform there. But seeing Radio City once is probably enough. Our tour guide was a little bit of a snooze. And there was a lot of walking through pointless hallways that seemingly didn't lead us anywhere. Not sure if there was anything actually worth seeing backstage that was not on the tour, but at the end we felt like it needed a bit more meat to it. Meeting an actual Rockette at the end of the tour was a nice touch though.
