If walking around Downtown New York City doesn’t offer you enough of a fast-paced thrill, perhaps the only thing that will satisfy you is speeding across the harbor in a huge speedboat… that’s painted like a shark.

Yes, Circle Line Downtown’s SHARK Speedboat Thrill Ride is by far among the most awesome ways to see the city. Fly by those highly recognizable landmarks; the salty wind whipping through your locks as you hum the theme song from Jaws to terrify passengers on the boats you’re speeding past. The sightseeing is fantastic, but the speed of this boat ride is its main attraction. It’s like being on a 135 passenger jet-ski just off the shore of Manhattan. Think harbor scene in Hitch, but in a much larger shark-vessel, and there’s no chance of Will Smith accidentally knocking you off the boat …unless you really luck out.

In all seriousness, this 30-minute speedboat ride is a great alternative to the more romantic, slower-paced harbor cruises offered along the harbor. Having said that, it’s not for the faint of heart, nor is it available to be ridden by little thrill-seekers who are under 40” tall. Child-passengers must be able to sit in their own seat. South Street Seaport’s Pier 16 is where this aquatic beast jets out of its dock. In addition to the ride itself, you will surely enjoy the witty commentary of a tour-guide, replete with music and loads of humor. Circle Line Downtown SHARK Speedboat Thrill Ride whizzes by Lady Liberty and her neighbor Ellis Island; splashes past the 172-acre Governor’s Island; and also jets passengers by the World Financial Center, Brooklyn Bridge, and Manhattan’s southernmost point at Battery Park.

Don’t let your fear of sharks put you off…it’s only paint! Circle Line Downtown’s SHARK Speedboat Thrill Ride promises to deliver and has passengers literally raving about an exhilarating tour that gives an adrenaline rush while letting them behold so many of New York’s hotspots in an efficient and fun way. Be sure to give a great big hug to “Sharkie” the mascot upon your return to the port and get a photo with him while you’re there!

Comments about Smart Destinations SHARK Speedboat Thrill Ride:

To begin it was raining, as we got underway, pouring. It didn't matter. Everyone was singing along with the loud music, waving their arms and laughing. I never saw so much laughing. A summer camp of maybe 50 teens, a father and son, my grand daughter and me and a group of 4 friends all laughing and screaming as we got soaked to the skin. Later saw them all buying cheap clothes to go home in. It is a blast. Just wish the crew had a little more involvement other than saying when you yell we go faster and giving us a few tidbits of info on NYC. It was great. Since Circle Line owns it I would recommend they give a little "fun" training to the crew so they can compete with the Beast speedboat which is a party on the water.
