Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by calendar days over a 2 week period?

Your Go Oahu Card is valid for the number of days you selected for up to two weeks from first use. Days do not have to be used consecutively and your pass will be activated the first time you visit an attraction.

For example, if you activate a 3-day pass on a Monday, then your pass will be good for that day and 2 more calendar days in the next two weeks to follow. If you decide to go sightseeing again that Friday, then you will have one day left to use, and so on.

Please note that these are calendar days, not 24-hour periods, so we suggest you start your day early!

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by calendar days over a 2 week period?

The first time you visit an attraction, it will “activate” the calendar day countdown on your card (not 24 hour periods). Once activated, you can use your card for the number of calendars days that you bought spread out over 2 weeks.

For Example, if you activate a 3 day card on a Monday, then your card will be good for that day and 2 more calendar days in the next two weeks to follow. If you decide to go sightseeing again that Friday, then you will have one day left to use, and so on.

How does the Bonus attraction work?

If you buy a 3, 5 or 7 day card, you will be able to choose one bonus attraction as an option on one of your valid card days. Your bonus option does not give you an extra day on the card. Reference your free guidebook or our website for details on the bonus attraction options.

How many days should I buy?

Most travelers visit between 2 and 3 attractions each day depending on individual preference. We suggest you count the number of attractions and divide by the number of days to get an estimate. Our most popular card is the 3-day card.

Your card is valid for daytime admission to attractions. This means that attractions cannot be visited after 5:30pm with the Go Oahu Card — so plan your day accordingly.

Good value if you plan ahead
By MI_RDG from Novi, Michigan on 9/4/2012
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Oahu Card:

You MUST plan ahead to get the value of this card! You must also know in advance you cannot do everything that is included (unless you do a 7 day card). This card is best if you are staying at a hotel in Waikiki. Most of the attractions are free, but you are paying for the transportation. They do not pick you up if you are not at Waikiki, but you can still use the card once at destination if there is a charge. We rented a car for the full 10 days we were on the island because we stayed at 3 different places (Huulau, Waikiki & Kailua). We should have used the card to do the PolCC and purchased the luau separately, but didn't know that until after the fact. Here was our itinerary: Day 1- snorkel at Waimea Beach (swam with about 6 turtles and saw lots of fish- calm beach) (on our own) Day 2- Pol. CC w/Luau & Ha Breath of Life (on our own-didn't use card) Day 3- Aquarium (not on card, but worth the visit) Day 4-(Saturday) Aloha Stadium- Flea Market $1 per person. They have a stop on the bus or you can call the tour companies & they pick you up & drop you off for $5 I think I heard someone say. Day 5*- Manakai Catamaran, Wet & Wild Waterpark- made the reservation for catamaran first since they book fast. Had extra time, so drove to waterpark. Because there was only 2 hours left in the day (closes at 3:30) there were hardly any lines and really not that many people in the park overall. Day 6*-Pearl Harbor/ City Tour Day 7*- Circle Tour. Used card for train ride at Dole. Day 8*- Sea Life Park (used upgrade here to have dolphin experience- very cool!) Made this reservation same day I made catamaran reservation. Filled in other days around them. Day 9- Kailua Beach (could have used card this day to do water sports, but we just hung out!) Day 10- Diamond Head, Botanical Gardens (on our own) We did get the value of the cards that we spent by seeing what we did. We have used these types of cards for San Francisco & Chicago, too. I do not think this card was as good of a value as those, but we did break even/ come out a little ahead & it was nice to have the book that had all the addresses and phone numbers handy! We ordered this a month before we went to Hawaii and got the cards in the mail. We did not have any problems with using this card.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Oahu Card:

I added up the retail price for the tours we did and we saved almost $300 for our family of 5.The best part is that we didn't have to shop around. It was easy to book our tours through the guide book. Some tours take up most of the day but if you check the times you can do 2 or 3 attractions in one day. We did Diamond Head and the Rainforest Waterfalls and Movie Sites Adventure on the same day and they both were great!Recommend them both! So if you plan a little, you can maximize the use of your card and save lots of money!

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Oahu Card:

Did the Hanauma Bay Snorkel Tour and Rainforest and Waterfall Adventure on the same day! We got to experience the best that Oahu has to offer! My children loved snorkeling at the beach and my wife love the beautiful waterfall. Nature at it's best! It was so easy using the guide book provided and the vendors they used were very profesional.Having to find these vendors ourselves would be difficult but they made it easy and we saved money!

We purchased 4 Adult and 2 kids 5 day cards. The card saved us heaps of money. the tours were fantastic, couldnt get to all the attractions but definately got our moneys worth. Recommend hiring a car to get to the attractions on the otherside of the island, highly recommend the Kualoa Ranch Sunset Experience (bonus choice option on the card). Visit Pearl Harbour Arizona memorial early and definitely visit the other attractions USS Bowfin and Missouri as they are fantastic dont forget the audio tour (included on the card) Hanauma Bay tours book up fast especially the 7am pickup so book this tour 1st. highly recommend this card, will purchase again when i return to Hawaii next.

Great way to save money
By Sue Verified Reviewer from Irvine, CA on 8/23/2011
Bottom Line:

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Oahu Card:

The Go card is a great way to save money. I bought a 5-day card & did 2 tours a day. This saved me lots of money. I did 10 tours total for about $200 per person. I went last year and went on 3 tours & it costs about $250. There's lots of planning involved but I did all of it including the reservations before I went. The card was easy to use. The only time I didn't like it was when the driver didn't have the machine with them and they had to take us back to their office to swipe the cards which delayed another 15-30 mins.

Great Value

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Oahu Card:

We purchased 5 7-day Go Cards for a 10-day family vacation to Oahu. The cards worked flawlessly at every location and we tried almost all of them. Places I recommend as a must: Pearl Harbor – Arizona Memorial, Battleship Missouri, USS Bowfin, and Pacific Aviation. All of these attractions are top notch. Tip: Plan to get there early to get ticket for Arizona Memorial. Polynesian Cultural Center – Very nice attraction. Wish I had a few more hours there to visit more. Suggest full half day starting at noon. Also used our Bonus Attraction here to see the HA Breath of Life and dinner. HA Breath of Life was very good, dinner was just OK. Tip: PCC is away from the other attractions. Give yourself 40-60 min from Honolulu to get there. Hanauma Bay Snorkel – We Snorkeled in 3 different places and this was by far the best. Well worthwhile to spend 2-3 hours in this area. Tip: Be aware you will need to pay $7.50 per person to get on the beach and the tour part only includes transportation and equipment. Makani Catamaran Sail – This was a great experience and my family loved going out on the ocean and seeing Waikiki and Diamond Head from this view. Tip: I suggest you make reservations a week ahead of time since they book up fast and we could only get an afternoon sail the week of. Diamond Head Hike – Nice way to see Diamond Head crater as well as a view from the crater rim. It's a good strenuous hike up taking 30 minutes going at a good pace. I suggest this rather than driving because they have little to know parking. Also, taking the morning hike because it gets very got in the afternoon. Only drawback was we had to wait 1 hour once we came down for the bus to return. Bishop Museum – This was much better than I expected. It is the place to go in order to see Hawaiian history. Movie Site and Ranch Tour at Kualoa Ranch – Kualoa Ranch is a must see when visiting Hawaii. The Kualoa Ranch has a few different tours and I wish I had more time to take a few others but we took the Movie Site tour which was fantastic. The Bus driver was great and provided the group great commentary on the tour. Tip: Reservations are required however I was able to make them in the morning for an afternoon tour. Snorkel Gear Kailua Kayaks – Kailua is a great place to visit. Beautiful beaches. We did both Snorkeling and the Kayaks. I would not suggest Snorkeling since other sites we visited were much better. However renting a Kayak was awesome and we Kayaked on the river that was close by to get the hang of it then took them out off the beach into the ocean. They have an island that is about 30-40 minute Kayak ride out which is a great experience. Places should do if you have time: Byodo-In Temple – Beautiful place to spend an hour but a little out of the way. Good to drop by going to Polynesian Cultural Center or Kualoa Ranch. Dole Plantation – Beautiful gardens and a fun train ride. Got to have a Dole Whip which is mighty tasty. A little out of the way is the only con. Iolani Palace – The best way to understand the history of Hawaii specific to its royalty. The Palace is immaculate. Tip: Get there early to get a ticket for one of the hourly tours. Japanese Cultural Center – This is a short tutor of the history of the Japanese in Hawaii. Very interesting facts about how the Japanese where treated as they came to Hawaii. Tip: Park in garaged under building and they will validate and the self-tour is less than one hour. U.S. Army Museum – Interesting self-guided tour coving the history of the U.S. Army in Hawaii. The site itself is very impressive since it was setup as a site to protect Honolulu. Take about 1 hour to go through. Would not waste time: Beach Gear Hawaiian Ocean – We got a few boogie boards for 1-2 hours. The boards themselves where in bad condition and they do not provide the flippers to more easily catch waves. Also, there was way too many people in the area so if you do get a board, I suggest going down the beach so you do not get mixed up with newbies with surfboards. Wet'n Wild Hawaii – Spent about 2 hours there. It's very small compared to other water parks and a lot of their attractions alternate open/closed because they have a minimum of people. My kids where bored within 1 hour. A few general suggestions are: Plan ahead based on the location of the attractions to optimize your time. Also, call ahead to get hours of operation since these are not correct in documentation. Make sure to have some break days where you don't use the card. I suggest every 2-3 days of doing activities on the card you should have a day of rest/break relaxing on the beach. Be prepared to pay for parking for most of the attractions on the card, typically $5-7.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Oahu Card:

Just returned from a week in Oahu and this was a great purchase. We got 2 Go Cards for 3 days and with a lot of planning and reservations ahead we got a great deal.Note the Makani Catamaran only accepts Go Cards on Wednesday and SUnday sails only. It would be great if this is mentioned on the GO Card book. Also the people with the Diamond Head tour are pretty rude incase you need to cancel a tour previously reserved. We had to cancel ours since we were travelling with a 3 yr old and a 1 year old. After reviews found out the hike wasnt going to be simple with young ones tagging along. When i called to cancel their customer service was horrible but that didn't ruin the trip. Dont waste your time at Sea Life we only visited it since it was included. You can do the entire park in less than 1 Hr. Last show is at 4:30 so you need to plan accordingly.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go Oahu Card:

we visited the movie tour and was .5% short to perfect. The microphone and the speaker that the tour bus uses was not so clear and hard to understand due to the buzzing sound. Other than that, it's perfect. The place was well preserved and so green. No wonder movie makers love to film here.
