Description

The most famous volcanic crater in the world is Mt. Leahi, better known as Diamond Head, and is located along the southeast coast of Oahu, at the end of Waikiki. In the early 1800s, British sailors mistakenly thought the calcite crystals in the lava rocks they saw glimmering from a distance were diamonds, hence the name. Diamond Head is a volcano that has been extinct for 150,000 years. The crater is 3,520 in diameter with a 760 foot summit. The hike led by Kaimana Tours is considered easy to moderate in exertion. It is certainly worth the breathtaking, unparalleled view of the coastline. A must see for any visitor!
